!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

Oh ok, ta, must be an old RAGE anarchy box art still floating around on some websites. I was thinking it was like Crysis, Crysis was a Games for Windows title, you just loaded the game to your hard drive from the disc, activate it then play the game, no need for steam or gfwl. I'm old school, although i have had no major issues with steam or gfwl, i just prefer the old ways, like Bohemia Interactive's games. Not a big problem but it slightly irks me a tad to be asked everytime if i want to play in offline mode when i have set steam to run in offline mode hehe! doh!, lol. Plus i have just sold my steam and gfwl account, although i could set up another one or two i suppose.

Dunno..pretty sure that having steam active is better than the old school method of having to load tapes :p

W7 is a big improvement over Vista and XP (I was a sceptic for a long time, too) so it's a win-win for you :)

Only if you've never used fully patched/updated Vista 64bit (ultimate in my case). W7 really is basically Vista SP3, with some more fluffy menu's and a lack of quick launch (pin's doesn't count at all) and the ability to have an old style start menu.

Anyhow sorry went off topic a bit, I meant to say it's nice to see them embracing 64-bit, which should allow them to continue to push things further. :)

So pins work as a quick launch so you disregard them? Wheres the logic in that

Have to see what the situation is nearer the time. Unlikely I'll preorder this one though.

I'm using enterprise in W7..probably ultimate in Vista (I forget).

When I was last using Vista only SP2 was available. However, it was a lot more sluggish to use than W7 and as an OS basically felt like a worse version of W7. I can't imagine that SP3 changed things *that* much.

I've adjusted to using pinned apps rather than quick launch - there's not that much practical difference between them.

No idea why you've picked on the start menu as problematic. Viewing in small icon mode is basically the same as classic view. Minor cosmetic changes aren't really a big deal when it comes to OS updates...

Pins turn into the application on the taskbar when you open them, therefore not being of much use when you want to quickly and easily open another instance of that app (plus it moves).
Also show desktop on the far right is quite annoying when working remotely. Locally you'll just use win+d.

As for the start menu I was refering to the old (probably win2k) style were the sub folders would automatically side out to the right as you hovered over. Much easier and faster than the surprisingly cramped click on the folder to go into it method W7 uses. (bare in mind that this is only really an issue if you have many many folders and long names too).

Anyhow, as I said way way off topic. Very much looking forward to the game and to see what the modding community will make of it.

I liked both.

I didn't have vista with a bad spec though, it's getting old now but still pulls its weight in games but generally W7 has felt more efficient, probably because prev. maintenance is a big thing for me now. :p

Dunno if it has been said already in this thread but Jesse was playing a strange version (with a light gun) of this game in this weeks Breaking Bad. Nice bit of advertising :)

Middle click on the already open application. Bosh, Problem solved, Everyone goes back to talking about Rage.
