!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

I might get the DLC theres so much more they can/could do with the game, but they really need to fix a lot of stuff it was running fine for me (none of the texture popin issues, etc. other people were getting) until the latest patch which suddenly decided I can't use CUDA transcode any more (despite having a GTX470) and forces off a couple of tweaks I had due to "lacking" hardware support/"enough" cores and now get poor texture quality/performance :(
 
Personally, I had very few issues with the game. AMD users seem to suffer more for some reason. Hopefully iD have addressed the bugs whilst working on Doom4 and will use that to patch RAGE.
 
Rage Woes

Hi guys, picked up as part of 2 for £15 RAGE, bargain I thought 8 months old I thought, should be nicely patched and any driver issues resolved...wrong!
God this game is very poorly configured for the PC! the iD Tech 5 engine is awfull, popping textures, framerates going up and down like a fiddlers arm! It is ridicuously un-playable!
Before I un-install this piece of gaming excrement!, Does any one have any input on how to increase performance?, especially on my VGA setup (see sig)
I have the latest CAPs and the 12.6 Betas installed, and every other new game title I play runs well. Then again it's openGL.

I have tried the following:

Ran game with the following launch parameters:

+cvaradd g_fov 12 +com_allowconsole 1 +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +image_anisotropy 16 +image_usecompression 0 +g_showplayershadow 1 +m_smooth 0
I have also created a config file called rageconfig.cfg in Rage/base/ and put in the following commands:

vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 8192
vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly 8192
vt_pageimagesizeunique 8192

This has had little or no impact.
Any suggestions appreciated!, including the bucket!

I didn't have my new rig when this came out and played it on the 360 instead. So glad I did. It is silly the way the way they went with this game in terms of settings if you ask me.

Whilst all the console fanbois were laughing it up, I really was fighting against them stating that it really was a unfair and not thought through move by ID.
 
Just booted this up for the first time. Here is my experience so far in the first 5 minutes;

1) Ugly visuals.
2) Horrific amounts of flickering.
3) HYorrifically chopper FPS of between 20-25fps.

I want my £6.50 back :(

ha ha, why did you get Rage realising it was like this, because it's obvious from research that the game is buggy Krap
 
I bought it for £5, overall I quite like it, thoughts:

- I think its one of the prettiest games I have played in a long time, the scenery is beautiful!
- I think the game works pretty well, its basically a not as good borderlands.
-Its fairly short and doesnt do anything inspirational

Something wrong there fps should run smooth on just about anything and shouldn't get any flicker other than some level of texture popin.

it makes you worry about DOOM 4, because it's the same team/ same Rage Engine !!!!!!!
 
Brought rage last week it runs very well and the visuals great! seems most of the issues have been fixed ?

Has anyone played coop online are the mission different to the single player??

They pulled all the support off RAGE to "make sure the same thing doesn't happen to Doom 4" - which is why RAGE has pretty much stagnated since release. I know Carmack wants to go back and fix a lot of stuff, especially the texture quality was bugging him but all efforts are being put into not making the same mistakes with Doom 4 and they are pretty upfront about that.

Works perfect (well, textures still pop in, but don't notice that so much after a while), but only after a crap load of editing and creating a cache folder for it (which it doesn't do by itself!!).

Glad I didn't pay £30 for it, though.
 
Just started playing through it again.

Works beautifully on my rig (i7/GTX 570) but had no problems with it the first time round either.

Really good game but they missed a trick with the missions being too samey (repeatedly visiting the same location to pick something up that I could've just grabbed when I was there a couple of tasks ago) and not providing enough side missions ala Fallout.

Hope this upcoming DLC is cheap as they should have put a load more content in there in the first place.
 
Really bloody short game. I even tried to take my time. Got my moneys worth though, unlike I have with most other games I have bought in a Steam sale, so that proves it's a game worth playing.

it'll be interesting to see what's going on with DOOM 4, It wont be out for ages though, because all the advertising/hype usually starts a year in advance and DOOM 4 is STILL dead quiet

as for RAGE, it's a waste of time , too many bad posts, you can tell it's not much good.... i'll wait for borderlands 2/ bulletstorm and then wait for FAR CRY 3/ GHOST SNIPER 2 AND CRYSIS 3
