!!**Official RAGE Thread**!!

well everyone seems to be getting diff results.
For me the patch was a god send, my game is working with no problems at all. No stuttering no tearing and no pop up textures (or at least I havnt noticed pop ups) Looks and plays completely fine for me. There seems to be quite a few others on here that have also benefitted from the patch.

That said there seems to be a lot of people having problems since the patch lol.

Im running Q6600 480GTX 1.5gb 8gb ram @1900x1080 res

Im getting pretty bad tearing when driving about so i thought id enable v-sync in the options but it doesnt seem to enable in the game at all. I go back to options and its set to disabled :/

patch made it WORSE. now it crashes all the time. I cant believe how badly iD have messed up this release. if it was just drivers, why a 1 gig patch?

Read the patch notes, there are half a dozen entries that say "workaround for driver issue".

Out of interest, are people that are having issues after the patch.. still using .cfgs filled with things that fixed the issues before the patch?

So if i decide to go for this game do i just update my nvidia drivers and download the game from steam.

Pretty much. + Apply V-sync if it's to your tastes.

There's no SLI support at the moment, but one 580 should be eating it for breakfast anyway.

Check in the Nvidia control panel that it's not set to force V-sync off.

My game is crashing when i do screenshots for some reson, i don't think it is a problem otherwise. The game now looks pretty good, but i do still get texture popping, but usually only the first time i view something now.

It is very playable now though, i just need to sort out a config for better performance.

An hour or so into this now, graphical problems are annoying but I've just installed the RAGE ATI fix so hopefully that will help.

Game itself is pretty fun, down points for me so far are :

Can't pick up enemies guns
Enemy bodies still dissolve into gloop like Doom 3
Game is a corridor shooter...in an open world. So many flipping invisible walls around you start to wonder why they bothered.

deleted cfg, using vsync off, small cache. and most importantly jobs_numThreads 0 because im on a dualcore and itll freeze otherwise.

Just tried this game on my other PC, which is an AMD Phenom 2 Quad @ 3.6Ghz, 4GB Ram, a GTX 460 768MB at stock, Windows 7 64bit and latest BF3 beta driver 285.38.

The game runs perfectly at x 2 AA, GPU transcode on, high texture cache, V-Sync on, 60 FPS in and out of vehicle, no texture pop in and the game looks superb.

It's not as obvious as on Doom 3 and it doesn't seem to happen all the time, can't work out if it's only some enemies (like the mutants) or if it's when you have too many bodies on screen.

The basic mutants disintegrate straight after you melt them with an animation. Other bodies only seem to disappear for me if I walk a distance from them and return.

Not noticed them just vanish from under my feet though.

Some of the larger ones in dead city disappear a couple of seconds after theyve been dropped, its annoying this happens as its one of the main complaints of doom 3 that everything felt sterile with the bodies magically vanishing. Obviously they listened to feedback 0_o.

Wow, thanks to randomly seeing "+jobs_numThreads 0" the game now actually runs! So poor cpu optimisation then? Absolutely disgusted with id.

Now just need to sort out the FOV, but at least I can play the damned thing!
