People are just desperate to complain about the textures.
The combat is a little linear but you can at least enjoy it for what it is. The way the melee enemies move and navigate the map is really impressive. My main gripe is the excessive invisible walling (and probably the lack of lean in a game that really demands it). Take Dead City, an extremely impressive landscape but everything just has an invisible barrier round it so you can't jump over small obstacles and have to look for only one way which really spoils things.

"+jobs_numThreads 1" gives me the_frozen_for_several_seconds_experience every 0.5 seconds
"+g_fov 90" works an absolute treat though. Although have decided to play on my m11x, as it plays far better than my main desktop. hohum!
Cheers, Paul.
Is it as close to a borderlands game as the first impressions would give or is it a bit more linear?
Some of the textures are bad, but once I stopped faffing about and started playing properly, I hardly noticed it anymore. The main problem was the texture popping and screen tearing, which the patch has fixed for me.
The graphics aren't revolutionary, but at the very least the developers should be given credit for making a game that runs at a constant 60fps (literally) with little or no hitching/stuttering.

Do you get a choice with game difficulty; easy, medium, hard or nightmare?
