***Official Rift Planes of Telara Thread***

Been playing a fair bit and they need to do what WoW did and make some of the Epic Quests easier, got a few to do in the first area and can't find people to do them with, and there is no way I can solo them.

So I wouldn't be missing out on much if I can't get them done? Also what shard and faction is the OcUK guild on?

Couldnt say what might be missed out, as I havent done them myself either :D , I did a couple of early ones which gave me some loot, but all of that loot was obsolete a few levels later so no big deal. If any give titles or something more, I can just pick those up whenever.

OCUK guild is on Shivermere PvP server, Defiant side.

LFG tool is awful at the moment, good idea, but poorly executed.

It certainly doesnt seem to be terribly effective. I've yet to actually get a group with it. Whether thats down to the tool being broken and not forming groups when it has whats needed, or whether its down to people not using it, or whether its down to there not being many people pugging and most people just doing groups internally within their guild, or whether its down to people not bothering with instances while they level up, I dont know. I've outlevelled most instances before I've managed to get a group for them. On the plus side, when you're going to run those dungeons a dozen times or more at max level I dont suppose it matters a great deal if I miss doing it once while levelling up.

At the moment I can't really use it at all, it's only allowing me access to AP and CC, despite meeting all the requirements for T1 expert dungeons, and T2 as a healer. I've managed to get one group for AP after several hours wait, but thats it.

Needs to be fixed to start with as obviously somethings wrong with the requirement calculator, the lower dungeons need a low level restriction, and left as open so higher levels can join, and it really needs to be cross shard.

I'd prefer it if it wasnt cross shard, or at the least if it was delayed cross shard, ie. it tries for the first x Mins (lets arbitrarily say 30mins) to create the group within your own shard, if none is formed by then, it then goes cross shard. That at least gives it the opportunity to create a group from within your own server, thereby ensuring that there is at least a chance that a player will be grouped with people with whom they can form a social aspect for future play and reducing the chances of getting grouped with people who are tards just because they know you'll likely never meet them again ingame.

the 'buzz' around this game seems to have dropped off a bit, is it worth getting into at this stage?
ive held off this long as ive been burnt with other unsuccessful MMO's.
now im thinking about getting into a game again, im torn between rebuying all the WoW's (game/expansions etc) and just buying rift.
rift is cheaper to buy initially but i dont want another dvd in a drawer i never install again, whats the opinion now, a few months in?

If you're worried long term, its definitely best to go for WoW. If Rift can stay alive and eventually becomes better, you can just buy it at a later date.

There are a lot of things about Rift that worry me and that will prevent me from putting the kind of effort in that I have in the past for WoW.

Been playing a week or so now, and whilst the game is quite fun. I have yet to see anything that will keep me hooked. Rifts are a nice incentive when leveling. But at high level, I can see them becomming rather dull.

PvP seems a bit messy. And it's what I want to be playing for, (plus I don't really enjoy large scale pvp, small scale 5v5 is/3v3 is my preference).

Not sure on PvE as everytime I've queued for a dungeon at level 15-23 I have logged off before the queue popped. As a cleric tank/healer/dps at different stages.

There are a few people who have posted links to trials for Rift. Use one of these and see how you get on without having to pay for the game. I have moved from WoW to Rift and I am enjoying Rift quite a lot. I had WoW since Beta so think I have just become burnt out.

I stopped playing a few weeks ago, as levelling is like pulling teeth to me, and WFs as Defiant on my shardgroup is like pulling teeth whilst being repeatedly kicked in the balls.

I was waiting for the LFG tool to be implemented, but now it has, I just can't get motivated to play. It's nothing personal against Rift, I just think I've had me fill of MMOs.

Rifts at high level are good fun, especially when doing them and invasions, they are also useful for drops and currencies. You can also move onto Expert and Raid Rifts.

I can not comment on the LFG tool as I do not use it, some people have enjoyed more luck than others. Might be time/shard issues you have.

I'm still very much enjoying it, its the MMO which gets all my MMO gaming time at the moment.

Vs WoW? Well I couldnt really tell you which one to go with. Theres a lot to weigh up I suppose, will you get all the WoW stuff again, play for a bit and then decide I've done all this already, cant be bothered to do it again. Who knows. Maybe its better to not push yourself into either one and wait instead for an MMO that you genuinely want to play, instead of one which you have decided to play just for something to do.

There are lots of recruit a friends going around for Rift at the moment, so probably good advice would be to take one of those and do the trial and see what you think of the game firsthand.
