***Official Rift Planes of Telara Thread***

All new MMO games will have to take a lot from WoW. Its what people are familiar with and it is a system that works.

Other than the general interface, Rift feels very original to me so far. I'm actually glad the interface is similar-ish to the WoW one, I wouldn't want to have a whole new one to learn.
 
Enjoying it so far i am just trying out all the classes to find one i am gonna settle on. I like paladin but i dont like any of the souls that go with it they seem a bit meh any tips which souls and skills support it well. I enjoyed the necro, warlock mix but unsure of what 3rd soul to go for.

Just gonna try celric now.


One question though it runs like a pig on my system i5-2500k 480 gtx. Last night i had the settings maxed out i was getting around 30fps today i went to play it and i am getting under 10 fps in places i was getting 30+ last night i have to turn the graphics right down to get any decent frame rates and it makes it look pig ugly.

Any ideas?

With regards to lag, they have released a patch which should address that. Thankfully never suffered from that myself.
 
How is rift? I ordered it ages ago, and my PC died the day it arrived, I was not happy, anyways I'm upgrading most of it and will be back soon, so How is the server spread, population and pvp now? many people still play? I heard it had some pretty bad trouble with hackers.

Depends largely on who you ask, some will say its rubbish, others will say its great. Thats the beauty of MMOs, theres always one out there for someone.

As with most MMOs server spread can be hit or miss, and as usual it pays to do some research before picking a server to ensure you will get the best experience for you.

Population is kind of tied in with server choice, some servers will have far fewer people on them than others, one thing to note with population is that its not just the number of people on a server but also their attitude that counts. For instance you could have a server with an enormous population, but if everyone on the server is introverted, only talking and doing things with their guildmates then it still feels as lonely as a server with a very low population. Conversely a low population but where the people are publically active and doing things with strangers will feel much more vibrant and lively that some higher population servers.

Initially there was a hacking problem, quite a bad one, it was like every single account hacker from WoW had started targetting Rift (I guess on the plus side you could see that as a positive for the game, after all hackers arent going to bother hacking accounts on a game that they dont think there will be a market for), Rift have pretty much got on top of the hacking situation now, though as with other MMOs I still highly recommend downloading an authenticator.
 
I enjoy playing all MMOs really, I'm not into the whole comparison which is better type of thing. When I get my new PC set up I'll do some research, mostly I'm looking for a decent population where people are open to inviting randoms, making friends etc.

I'm a bit of a power gamer but I enjoy taking time out to have fun and make friends, research builds and sometimes test other classes. I'll probably go where the majority of the ocuk guys go, It'd be cool to play with a lot of brits, on wow my server was 75% swedish.
 
Still not sure. I just got to Sanctum and it's a ghost town, a very small and unimpressive ghost town. I've seen about 15 people since I started playing, and I while I might still be low level, in all other MMOs I've played, I've seen a lot more than that.

Mind you, I'm still somewhat enjoying it despite that 90% of the content is derivative of other MMOs, and I'll keep playing till the end of the trial.

I guess I picked the crap, empty shard, lol.
 
Question.

Are there any websites/forums like ElitistJerks for Warcraft? I like nice, comprehensive rundowns of stat weights and dps rotations, etc (for when I'm max level).

At the moment I'm just Necromancer faceroll leveling, Soul Purge is ridiculously overpowered! :eek:

I'm pretty sure there are, afraid I'm not heavily into stats etc so I don't know of any.

Also interested in this. I went a Warrior with Paragon/Riftblade/Champion but it feels really weak, not dying or anything but I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.
