Close game! Neither team looked that decent to be honest.

I think the Hull KR fans gave the ref a bit of unfair abuse. He wasn't really allowing the ball to be played quickly. Fairly even in decisions I think. Players definitely played to him a lot of the time (e.g. not allowing some of ours to release an arm in a tackle, gaining a penalty).

Far too many tries made on penalties rather than skill to be honest.

It was a flat pass to Mantellato (at worst, even after watching it back) when he walked in for a disallowed try, although it was amateurish defending that allowed the Widnes try from the resulting scrum.

I'm not saying we deserved to win, but we could easily have nicked it.

Rovers are going to struggle next week in the forwards, given injuries, suspensions, Weyman retiring and the Ryan Bailey situation (whatever that may be) currently unresolved.

The last few seconds of the game? A few people who were closer (I was at the North West end) said that the ball was grounded a good 6 inches short of the lie. Might have been a different try though.

I have no idea what happened with the disallowed Hull KR try followed by the full length Widnes try though. I only saw the play from the penalty onwards. It was too far away from me to get a decent view.

This is what I was talking about, it got given as a forward pass which was truly astonishing.

The last minute though, it was grounded short, no qualms about that one.

saints doing well this year. playing much better rugby than last year. Cant wait to see burns and walsh in the same team.

I'm still glad we got rid of Burns. When the going got tough, everyone else was to blame but himself. Quite divisive in the team (a right prima donna, on all accounts) and I think we now have better half backs in Kelly and Campese.

That being said, he is working behind a great set of forwards; our half backs, aren't. So many injuries and retirement issues to deal with so early on could mean that our game against Saints could result in a hiding for HKR. If Saints roll us down the middle, as Widnes did, then I can only see one outcome. :)

Well. As expected I suppose but Ryan Bailey has been released by Rovers for "personal issues". Big blow that having two forwards leave the club at a horrible time of the season, especially after all the pre-season preparation, Chris Chester thinking he's got his squad sorted and now has to start again.

On the other hand, we now have Jamie Peacock signed up for 2016 as the "Football Manager"....whatever that means! Big coup for the club that though, quality player with bags of experience.

That was the most awful display of refereeing I have seen in a LONG time. Typical James Child but that was absolutely appalling. Two DISGRACEFUL forward passes for those final two tries for Saints and it would have been an absolute travesty if Saints had converted that try.

Glad we won, but absolutely fuming (though Green will be lucky to escape a ban after the late challenge on Burns, which is the last thing we need).

PS: Who needs forwards when you've got backs? :) Also, Roby not playing for the second half helped. Cunningham magnanimous in defeat too which was good to see.

Also, why the hell can't we go back and look for forward passes when going to the video ref? It seems absurd not to be able to.

Brilliant result for Rovers last night. As you say we were lucky not to lose Green still may lose him before the Derby.

At the start of the season we knew with 13 new players it would take time for them to click and gel. Thankfully over recent weeks this is coming more and more together and I can't wait for the summer season.

I've no idea why the video ref can't go and check forward passes, but I also don't understand why the linesman can't see them either!

I was reading up about that and apparently its because you can't always get the right angles with the cameras. It was tried for a while but it lead to too many controversies when certain camera angles proved inconclusive.

That being said, the ones tonight were obvious howlers.

When yo see you have James Child down as the ref, you know that anything can (and usually does) happen.

George Stokes at Wigan last night. Haven't seen him before and he looked okay but there was nothing for him to do really. Wakefield's squad depth must be paper thin. They had loads of injuries, but they were pretty poor last night. Wigan scored some tries that wouldn't have looked out of place in an U13s game

Wigan are still several notches below last season. There's a number of players who are just miles out of form (Liam Farrell, Joe Burgess, Matt Bowen in partcular). They're busting a gut, but the more they try, the worse they seem to get. If any Roosters fans see Joe Burgess in action this season they'll be wondering what they've signed. Last season every misplaced pass stuck, every bobbling ball was picked up cleanly, no knock ons - this season he's a walking disaster area.

Which makes it even more amazing that Rovers lost to Wakefield, frankly.

Rumours of Sam Tomkins coming back to Wigan due to homesickness? Wigan first refusal and its hard to imagine they would refuse!

Pants game on the tv tonight between Leeds and Catalans. Such poor quality, errors and mistake all over the place with little excitement so far.

Sam Tomkins back in a Wigan shirt? Oh, go on then! Could he not bring Konrad Hurrell and Shaun Johnson with him?

If he does come back, expect RU to start talking stupid money. You'd imagine that the good Dr Koukash might have a few bob lying around as well. It's his call. Joel is in the best place to talk to him about RU. I think he'd be wasted (like Sam Burgess is atm). He's a natural League player.

The whole season has been a bit scrappy. Sts are the best team at the moment, but would you fancy them against the Sts team of 5 years ago? Wigan against the 2011 GF team? There's a levelling up of the competition, but only because the standards are dropping.

thought kr fully deserved the win.

not sure what the touch judges do. they never see forward passes or keep defensive lines onside.

green really should have been sent though with a shoulder charge and contact with the head. he didnt even get put on report?
