Hmmm

Could try renaming the file. Could be a character limitation in file name.

Tried that as well. Even tried naming it the same as the "recovery" BIOS PRB350PS.CAP, and still won't see it as a correct BIOS.

I'm kinda leaving it for now, maybe Asus screwed up their support page downloads or something.

Long thread, please forgive not reading it, but - Are there any AM4 ITX boards? Thinking of going back to ITX for my next rig and just mulling over the options.
At the moment, there is the Biostar X370GTN. Good luck finding one though :p

Other than that, Asrock and Gigabyte both have boards releasing soon.

Guys how is that system looking? Anyone would add change anything? I am fed up with waiting already. Need new PC NOW!!!
I have budget of £530
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £539.07
(includes shipping: £11.10)

Would i need to update the Bios on motherboard before using R5 CPU?

Board is overkill for budget, better to go b350 and 1700 unless you are going to SLI or use lots of SSDs. Check RAM is b-die also.

Is this just a case of bad game optimisation for the CPU or an actual CPU bottleneck ? When I swapped a mates 3770K rig over from air cooling to watercooling a few weeks back I used the same 1080 Ti and tested WoW, GPU usage was 99% with frames being quite a lot higher.

is there any particular reason for this?? im not too good when it comes to technical stuff like this but have noticed quite a lot of articles offering the same advice

all looks fine - in fact I have the exact same setup, though not built yet!

true, but I went with the same setup so that come zen+ or whatever it will be called I didn't want to feel my board was lacking and end up buying a new one then too so spent a bit more now on mb now - probably makes no sense to anyone but me!

it almost certainly wont be. I think only the very early versions of that ram were b die. that said, v5.39 is specifically listed as compatible on a recently updated QVL from gigbyte

i done exactly the same thing when i purchased my board. read that people were recommending a slightly better board just now to minimise outlay further down the line when the newer cpus were released

Nope, I checked. Even tried the EZ Update software's online mode. :/

This is certainly a first for me.

Try flashing bios 0606 then the new 0805, Asus has some stupid limitations on what BIOS versions you can flash.
Also be sure to put the BIOS on an USB stick and do it via the EZ Flash utility in the BIOS, doing it via Windows is just asking to get your board bricked.

Thanks I'll try 0606 this weekend when I'm back at my old man's.

Also I tried USB directly via BIOS as well, at the time and no luck; was very frustrating.

Understandable but personally I think the CH6 while undoubtedly a great board is venturing into the realms of overkill unless you do plan xfire/sli. Also and again this is just personal opinion but gigabyte support especially on these forums seems to be second to none.
Go with the board you've linked and put the ~100 quid saved on the CH6 towards confirmed b die ram or a new gpu.

Agree regards gigabyte. Can't believe how great there cs and rma process is

Yup. And they've a rep on these forums who appears to go well above what one would normally expect.
Yeah. Couple of years back I needed an I/o shield for a motherboard and he replied telling me to send an sae with a covering letter along with the address.

Posted away in Monday lunch time received item 0930 on Wed morning:D

Yea the way I saw it was, sure a b350 board may well do zen+ fine but you know you'd have that niggle, that gnawing feeling that you just aren't getting the most out of the next gen chip due to board limitations (even if that's not the case!!) but spend too much eg CH6 and you're possibly in the realms or either buyer remorse (shouldn't have spent so much on my mobo boo hoo) or you think well I've spent 'X' amount on my board and chip its damn well gonna last me!! (Yes I have a complicated mind lol!!!)

I went bang in the middle and opted for the msi pro gaming carbon for a change.

I was going to go with gigabyte again but after seeing my sons board I felt there was too much colour and the msi board is a nice blend of black and silver/grey. Nothing too blingy about it at all.

All in nothing too expensive really but hopefully enough to make full use of future cpus
