*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

I don't think I have this option on my board...I'll double check tonight.

If I run it at 3.9 constantly will it cause any issues?

If the temperatures stay in spec and the voltage likewise (<=1.45V), I don't think that there would be any hardware issues. Maybe it wont be the quietest, but that depends on your system.

voltage is at 1.35. Using a Kraken x62 so it's quiet enough for me! I'll just leave it as it is for now. Thanks.

This seems to be totally forgotten about now but what was the conclusion regarding Nvidia drivers bottle necking when using a Ryzen CPU.

Could it just not be the fact that the core for core performance ultimately isn't there? Ryzen clocks low, and has IPC around Haswell level.
I've read reviews where Ryzen and Nvidia seems fine.

I don't think you understood the charts properly. That is the one thing it can't be. As you can't increase GPU power and remove a CPU bottleneck if it was IPC.

Oh, I see, it's showing how crap the 1500's performing with a single GPU. I was looking at the other results and seeing mediocre SLI gains.

So after a nearly a week of messing about I finally have things running as they should

I have a 1600 (not X) 3.9ghz stable with 6gb of 3200 Team Group Night Hawk RGB 16GB and a gigabyte gaming 7 (only went with the 7 as I didn't like the white on the 5)

I figured out how to set an offset voltage so my cpu wasn't running at 1.5ghz and I didn't have to rely on the gigabyte software any more (that's been uninstalled).
Since setting the offset I am actually running stable at a lower voltage than before so less heat (also 100 point increase on cinebench multithread) :). Downside to this was I set my fans to turn on at 50c and while running haven to test the fans and gpu the processor never went above 49 so they never came on.
Got them all set to silence for now and will mess about with fan curves and such again when my alphacool eisbear comes and I get my second 1080 back from RMA.

Overall even though it took a bit more setup than what I am used to I am happy with the system. Its cool, quiet and as more and more games come out with better multi threading then it should last me longer than my old 4770k.
I just hope Nvidia bring out a new driver properly optimised for Ryzen.

I just want to ask. Even though my memory is running XMP can I still change the timings on it or run it at a faster speed overriding XMP?
I have never overclocked Memory before so not sure what to do

You can, it gets complex fast but it can definitely be done. I have learnt a lot googling and using the various threads here to ask questions.

If you can it's worth seeing if you can do 3333 or 3466 first as ryzen loves memory speed.

Interesting. 2933 RAM too. I've just seen tangible increases going from 3333 to 3466. I suspect 2933 to 3466 might be pretty substantial when it comes to gains on a 1700 at 3.9.

In fact I might go test it...

Steve from hardware unboxed is restesting his 7800x soon so we will see more ryzen results there. He runs at 4.0/3200

Got my B350-Gaming 3 back from RMA today. Been busy with my girlfriends birthday so time to pull out the temp Asrock A320 board and drop the Gigabyte back in tomorrow

guess it depends on how likely a normal user is able to hit them speeds.

im on 2933 myself as 3000 kit, might be worth upgrading if i can get that difference, what kit do you recommend?
