*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

Also did you mention before that you have a dedicated discord server where someone like me (noob) can get some help?

Yeah, I'm on mobile atm but do a search on here and get on. There's a few ryzen owners in there including me.
Are you using manual voltage or offset?

I was playing tomb raider last night and suddenly crawled to about 1/4 FPS. I could just about get into task manager but the whole system was crawling so hit reset.

Overclocked GPU was my suspicion but when I hit the reset the board immediately showed F9 so possibly memory?

It is odd as I've had 4000% HCI run at these timings. Core is also 3 hours OCCT stable. Bumped the core and vram volts up a tick in the interim. Anyone had this before?

I certainly have. 3.9 became 3.8 because of it.

Taking a slight break from studying and job hunting today, so thought I would throw on BIOS 1501 and see how that goes. Will play some games on my PS4 while this is testing.

Currently have my 64Gb at 3200 with 1.45V using "stilts safe timings" tweaked a little to better suit my ram. I'm surprised Aida64 ram stability test is still running after 10 minutes!

I seriously doubt I will be able to keep 3200, but am keen to see if things have improved - though if it does prove stable, cool :)

Hey guys, figured i'd ask in here with Ryzen owners rather than make a new thread. I have a [email protected] and very happy with it but recently have got back into emulation and im seeing Ryzen is doing quite well in the likes of RPCS3 etc, would i be mad to swap for a 1600/1700? I game a lot in the likes of Witcher3 and Fallout4 so would like to still have the performance of the 6600k in those, is Ryzen for me? answers on a postcard people :)

Fallout 4 would take a hit, witcher 3 would be negligible. More cores are definitely recommended going forward, it depends on how long you are going to be playing games with crappy engines for really.
I cannot see them updating fallout 4 for ryzen tbh.

Thanks for the reply gavin, i game at 1440 on a gtx1070, i understand it will still take a while for games to use more than 4 cores, hell even 2. But i feel since Ryzen, intel have started to step up so im sure engines will start to take advantage soon? Either way Ryzen is still looking attractive to me even if it means a bit of an outlay to swap :/

Its already happening pal. The frostbite engine is one that can make use of 8 cores. Rise of the tombraider is another now its been patched. The division etc etc.
There is certainly nothing wrong with the ryzen 1600 for gaming, heck intels latest and greatest 6 core 12 thread equivalent cannot beat it.

Im a little confused about temps on the 1700 now on c6h board.

I thought the issue was the x series cpu's reported temps 20c too high, but non-x were fine.

Now with latest bios (1501) my cpu is reading 20C higher.

So what the hell is correct?

Yep, beggers belief that they changed the offset so as to stop the X cpu owners moaning. If you go to https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?91766-Crosshair-VI-Hero-UEFI-build-1501 you will see how to get your non X back to reading the correct temps. Personally i'm still on 1401 because it's still the best bios for me regardless.

To be honest AMD have never had reliable temperature sensors they've always used some weird algorithm based on voltage and power draw or whatever and some mathematical formula known only to them, as long as it's not throttling I would just ignore it.

Thanks Gavinh for the time spent today helping me overclock Ryzen, I very much appreciate.
