*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

As an update to my issue, it appears the QVL for my MOBO is based on my RAM being a Samsung chipset, however the RAM i've received is Hynix... which would go some way to explain why my RAM doesn't hit above 2800.

The GeIL's you linked to are not Samsung B-die modules. A giveaway to that is the timings. Nearly all Hynix 3200 modules have 16-16-16 timings, if they were Samsung B-die they would have 14-14-14 timmings. 8pack's ram when sold as 3200 isn't actually overclocked at 14-14-14, B-die runs at that speed anyway.

I have those exact GEIL memory chips, they are Samsung b-die.

What Ram revision do you have?

The only revision info I can see in Thaiphoon Burner is:

Revision / Raw Card
0000h / A0 (8 layers)

SPD Revision
1.0 / January 2014

Is there another way of finding out? I did read online that 4.31 = Sammy, 5.39 = Hynix but i'm not sure how to check. It's definitely being flagged as Hynix in Thaipoon though.

The revision in on the memory label.

I know, i feel your grief as well. My setup is a 1700, a ch6 and 4 sticks of Hynix 3200. It has been running fine at 3.8ghz and 3200 16-16-16 on bios 1401 since the bios was released. I flashed to 1501 this morning.........................what a disaster and complete mess the bios is. Q-Fan is all over the shop and simply causes constant looping on boot up. The bios itself is fine and stable as far as clock and ram is concerened............................but what the hell do Asus think they are doing to help us by messing up Q-fan ?

I just hope they don't make stupid mistakes like this when Ryzen2 is released next year.[/QUOTE

The 9920 BIOS for the CH6 tends to be the best for memory speed. 1403 & 1501 for me kept resetting from 3333 c14 to 2133 after a few reboots. 9920 runs at 3466 c15 for me and never resets using the Stilts 3466 memory profile built into the bios. You just have to adjust the temp offset so it reports the correct temps.

Can you tell me why you put "The 9920 BIOS for the CH6 tends to be the best for memory speed. 1403 & 1501 for me kept resetting from 3333 c14 to 2133 after a few reboots. 9920 runs at 3466 c15 for me and never resets using the Stilts 3466 memory profile built into the bios. I never said that, and don't be so stupid to add something to a quote to make it look like it's a quote

i think it was unintentional kitfit1 - he's accidentally missed out the last square bracket at the end of '[/quote]' to separate the content. I've done it a few times - especially when using a tablet to type up replies... :)

Lol...........you is probably right..............................i needs to drink less Merlot and stop being so tetchy lol :p

Interesting development.

Whilst trouble shooting some stutter I am getting in BF1, I accidentally left my ram at 3200Mhz rather than 3066Mhz and for the first time it booted in to Windows!

BF1 crashes and it blue screened but thats the furthest it's ever got.

DramV at 1.4 and procODT 60. If wanted to try and stabilise it at 3200Mhz where do I go from here?

If its Hynix ram try 53.3ohm instead of 60.

BF1 is trash at the moment.
Dice/nvidia forums are full of people raging.

It is. Game runs like crap at best.

Even with a clean install of Windows, hardware at stock, game mode off, this game still stutters.

I'm contemplating offering a swap my 1080 for a Vega 64.

I was actually hoping it was my overclocks that was the issue but that doesn't seem to be the case.
