*** Official Ryzen Owners Thread ***

Ordered a Ryzen 3 prebuilt system with a 1050ti for £690.

Cancelled this a went with the below for the same price.

Ryzen 7 2700
MSI B450M Mortar
1660Ti
8GB Ram
240GB SSD
CoolerMaster 650W Modular.

Just need to get a case and more storage now :)

Really looking forward to AMD. Not had a PC system since an original i7 920 over 10 years ago.

That's a big step up for the same price!

Much better! Which case were you thinking?

If I was going Ryzen, that's the motherboard I was going for in a matx build.
Have you looked at the phantek enthoo matx or the Corsair 280x?

I will be putting it together tonight after work minus the case. Ive been looking in my local computer place here in Leeds/Bradford. They have come along way in 10 years! RGB everyting. Im going to see and take measurements of the 1660ti and hopefully get a matx case. The Corsair looks good, I like the idea of the blocked off PSU compartment so will get one that is designed this way.

How big a deal is memory speed for Ryzen? I've just bagged a motherboard off eBay so my upgrade is happening sooner than planned, and I've stumbled across what I think is another bargain; 16GB DDR4 2400 CL14 for £55. Worth it? Or is 3000/3200 worth the extra £25+ on a tight budget?

It's important on Ryzen, look for samsung B die if you want to be sure, not all 3200 will work.

That 2400 deal isn't too bad, but 3200 is a fair jump for Ryzen. I've seen people push non b-die RAM pretty far, but then other people, like me, have trouble getting their RAM to run and rated specs at all. B-die is usually easier to plug and play but they also come at a higher price.

Lets see if it works :D

Loving the Ryzen :) Very impressive setup for the money. Cant compare it to anything as ive been using an i5 laptop with no GPU.

Dont know if the below means anything but ive ran firestrike and cinebenchr20

Run Cinebench R15 instead of R20. It's still the standard I think..

I'm wondering if anyone could give me hand lowering the temperatures of both of my 2700Xs. I've got the following PCs:

PC 1 "Plex Server & 2nd gaming PC"
  • 2700X @ 4.175GHz - 1.3975v (Ryzen Master Settings)
  • Corsair H115i Pro – top mounted
  • Team Group Vulcan TUF Gaming Alliance 16GB 28800C19 3600MHz
  • Gigabyte B450 AORUS M
  • Sapphire Vega 56 @ 1010mv - 1600/900
  • 8 x HDD - 50TB total
  • 1 x 500GB 850 Evo SSD
  • Fractal R5 - 2 x 140mm intake, 1 x 140mm exhaust

PC 2 "Gaming PC"
  • 2700X @ 4.25GHz - 1.4v (Ryzen Master Settings)
  • EVGA CLC 240 – front mounted
  • Team Group Vulcan TUF Gaming Alliance 16GB 28800C19 3600MHz
  • Gigabyte B450 AORUS M
  • Inno3D iChill GeForce GTX 1080 Ti X3 @ stock
  • 1 x m.2 SSD
  • 2 x 500GB 850 Evo SSD
  • Fractal R6 - 2 x 140mm intake, 1 x 140mm exhaust

I've always had Intel CPUs, the last was a 4770K that I had for years so I am new to AMD overclocking, my last AMD CPU was a 3700+ San Diego! I heard good things about Ryzen Master so used that. Both PCs seem to be stable and I don't experience any random crashes. However, PC 1 has seen CPU temps near 80c and PC 2 seems mid 70c. Do these seem high considering they are on decent AIO? I am wondering if I am putting too much juice into them? Neither of them like the memory at 3200MHz as I get random BSOD. I've not tried really slackening the timings though, not sure if it would yield a better overall performance?

I guess what I am asking is does anyone see anything obviously wrong with the settings?

Those temps at full load? Look OK to me for the volts you're running.

Have you got push/pull on your AIO Rads? I have a NZXT Kraken and it was dreadful until I added two more fans.

Also worth noting that you may yield better results with those 2700x's by just letting XFR do its thing.

That is after playing The Division, sometimes the CPU is doing Plex transcoding in the background while gaming as well. Just running stock fans on the AIOs. In terms of letting XFR do it's thing, do I just need to set Control Mode to "PBO"? Do I need to change anything else? I was running a quick CPUZ bench to get a rough idea of performance and how I have it set now seems to give the best result.

Your temps are acceptable. You might lower them a bit more by undervolting the cpu vcore. Try -0.06v?

I have no idea what to use :d I could try an OC

I got 1850 in C15 with the 2700 @ 4GHz but my ram was at 3466 Cl 14 combined with a bias to Cinebench 15 setting in bios of an asus motherboard. C20 using same settings scored 4130. Our STs have similar results.

Thanks, my ram is only at 3000mhz, I will try some overclocking today now I have it all setup in a case so can see the temps correctly.
