But if Apple switch to USB C now, it WILL be a waste of a cable, as you won’t be able to use it going forward.

But you could use that cable on many other devices, or indeed forgo buying a new cable if you have a modern iPad or other device that has it already.

I mean again it is up to you, and I suppose if you only own one device in your life that uses a cable, and that happens to be an iPhone then it could be deemed to be a waste. I'm not aware of anyone that only has a single device these days though, maybe you are.

Again its more types of cables though, why not just have one type. I know some people aren't big on sustainability and standardisation, and Apple certainly aren't as it affects their bottom line, but for the good of the world, less cables = less waste.

I'll illustrate this as in order to use either of the phones in the car we have to have both types of cable not just one, so an extra cable was bought so we always have one of each in the car, instead of just one. Multiply that several million times and you can see the waste, and that is just one application.

I am not saying people can't be happy with or prefer the non-standard connect Apple offer, but its not better, nor is it more popular.
Everyone who just has an iPhone will have to buy a USB-C cable and throw their lightning cable out. But they can't do that as they probably also have a lightning iPad.

USB-C offers wider compatibility, faster data transfer rates, and increased power delivery for better fast charging

Not sure what you mean by compatibility I as my lightning cable is USB C on the other end

I mentioned faster data transfer, but is it really that important on a phone? It’s a niche problem.

Power wise, how quick do you need to charge your phone? With a 30w Type C charger my iPhone charges rapidly, and this is coming from someone who used to own a OnePlus 8T.

I’d much rather have a device with a port I can rely on. I’ve had a few devices which have had their Type C port fail. Never had a lightning port die.

As I pointed out already, yes in the world where people only have one device in the household and don't already own a USB-C cable of any sort. Again though I don't know anyone like that, maybe you do though.

My mrs uses my USB-C cables on the rare occasion she needs to. Most of her devices are lightning. Her two sisters and family are all lightning, I don't think any of them have USB-C devices/cables.

Does the Watch normally drop in price so much? Tempted for a Series 8 for the first time, but that’s a crazy drop in value over the course of a year.
The steel watch was £649 last year with the cheaper straps, so the retail price has gone up £110 from last generation in the UK thanks to the £/$ ratio I guess (US Prices stayed the same). So much less of a reduction than it may seem at first glance.

Flipping hell, that’s a huge increase :(

1200 pound for a phone? I swear to god you have all been smoking crack in here if you think that's a fair price for a mobile phone!
Why worry? :) if it's not to your cup a tea then don't worry about it, if it's not to your price range, don't worry about it , if it's not worth the price tag to you for like you say "a mobile phone" leave the thread and don't worry about it! :) we all have different tastes, different price ranges, and different values of what things are and aren't worth.
