*** Official SONOS Thread ***

Thanks all anyway. I’ve picked one up at RRP from John Lewis but will keep an eye out for refurbs etc for growing the collection. The consensus elsewhere seemed another sale was unlikely soon so just watch them get reduced now. :D

I've never had a sound bar. LG CX feeling quite flat on its own.

Small room. The consensus here seems to be a beam 2 + sub mini?

Any different variations? Have I missed the deals?

Maybe it’s just me, but I would miss the surrounds! Maybe if budget restricted look at the ikea symfonisk (?) or just get a pair of the cheapest sonos ones. I’d even consider foregoing the sub to get surround. I‘m watching TV now in the bedroom with a Beam gen 2 and 2 surrounds with no sub and it’s still great (wouldn’t give up the sub in the sitting rooms though!)

The sub will add to everything you watch, whilst some content makes great use the surrounds lots of stuff still barely uses it.

I’d definitely add the surrounds later or get the ikea speakers which are a lot cheaper.

I have the same. Use flexson wall stands. Speakers are approximately 20-30cm above and to the sides of the ends of the sofa, and perhaps 20cm behind (due to sofa depth/small wall gap to account for actuation of sofa backrest). Works very well.

Personally I would prefer a 2.1 over a 5.0 - a subwoofer adds ambience and soundstage to everything, significantly more so than adding surrounds did for me.

Plus, not all content can make use of surrounds, but all content will make use of a sub.

I have 4 setups (!) so it depends on the room. Kitchen and Main betdroom are both 5.0 and it works fine in those rooms, living room and study are 5.1 but that's where we want all the noise rather than just the quality. It's horses for courses of course and no doubt the mini sub will temp me for those other rooms at some point.

I'd been having some random network dropouts and Sonos was playing funny games with rooms dropping in and out. Turns after some recent update, WiFi had been enabled on the ARC again (it's wired to a switch) which seemingly had been affecting the main network. One to check if you are facing similar issues.
