*** Official SONOS Thread ***

The Era 100s could be worth a look depending on what they can offer from an Atmos perspective.

Current setup is Arc + One surrounds and a sub. If they can enhance atmos in some way ill be in.

All looks very nice. No need for any speaker upgrades for me at this time - the One SL's have plenty of milage in the tank still as rears.

If anything, its made me have a think about trading in my Gen 1 Beam for an Arc.

ha I was right; the ERA 300 plays sound on both sides because its trying to create virtual side channels.

when you use two ERA 300s, a sub and a Sonos Arc you will now get 7.1.4 home theatre audio (with the two side channels coming from the rear speakers by playing the sound at an angle to bounce off the wall) - probably means you need to sit in a nice square room if you want to get the best 7.1.4 experience with these; you probably need to keep the two ERA 300's a reasonable distance behind your seating position

£900 to replace my ones, yeah, nah.

Edit: after reading some of the early feedback and how transformative the 300s are to the Arc ive put in a tentative pre order but with the space I have I really dont think these speakers are going to be suitable. I have a couch that backs right onto a wall, and the Ones I currently have are at the back angled inwards. Works OK, but I get the feeling these new 300 speakers are going to need more space.

I'm interested to hear from users that have added a mini-Sub to a Beam (Gen 2) and 2x One rears setup and how it improved (or not) the sound. My primary objective isn't more bass, but a better handling of the mids/highs (speech) from the centre (Beam).

Adding other speakers i.e a sub / rears isn't going to improve your 'centre' channel. You'll create a nicer sounding system no doubt with enhanced bass from the sub and some rear effects from the ones but if you're struggling with clear speech then either try re-run the room EQ or consider an alternative.

With the Beam handing off bass to the sub you may get better mids. I can't say I'm experienced enough to notice but I wasn't impressed by the Beam Gen 1 on its own but adding the big Sub made a huge difference to the sound.

I'm pretty sure you don't a crossover set with the sonos stuff like you do with a HC amp so you'd still be running everything through the beam and just have the sub giving a bit more low down ooomph which may make it sound a little fuller / better but won't really improve vocals.

The beam really is just to improve up on a teles built in speakers, which it does, but will never really give a decent home cinema experience!

Like you I still recommend adding a sub for a better sound with the beam - but just don't think it'll improve the speech.

There will almost certainly be a crossover frequency with the Sub present, you just can't manually control it.
