*** Official SONOS Thread ***

Having trouble with the app with my Play:1. I was having problems with the old app and updated to the newest app thinking it would help but still the same.

Sometimes it takes ages for my app to display my page when I first start it up. I also have problems when someone else starts using the app on their phone. It's just me and the Mrs using it but the app hangs and I have to restart the app again. It's getting to the point where I'm thinking of getting rid and looking at another speaker, I only have the one speaker and use it in the dining room.

Crikey.. the ARC is a bit special isn't it, the sound is so good!

If any of you have wives / partners in the NHS / Emergency services - bluelightcard is doing 15% discount up to £2500 spend on sonos
After selling my beam for £300ish the Arc wasn't too bad after discount!

Mine isn't coming until the 30th July :(

Ended up buying a Gen 1 Play 5, Bridge and Play 1 for £215.

Then used TradeUp on the Play5 to get 30% off my Arc.
Now selling the Play 5 and Bridge. :D

That Arc deal is tempting, Ive got two first gen Play:5s.

I impulse bought a Play:5 Gen 2 yesterday, the refurb store was letting you use 15% NHS discount so was £305. Seemed a decent price.

So my arc arrived this afternoon then the fun began. Had to remove existing wall plugs fill them and the current hole, as the arc needs to be at least 4 inches below the TV (recommended). Did all that, created new hole for cables, turns out the power cable from playbar does work with the arc even though Sonos told me it doesn't, so just ran the hdmi cable as I cut the plug off my original one for in the wall action. Painted the wall mounted up new one and away we go.

Haven't really had a chance to properly test but confirmed I am getting the compressed Atmos from Netflix and sky. Quick first impressions the voices from programs are much much clearer. Ran the Atmos test I had on usb stick, sound does actually work all around me. Didn't tell the wife the difference and she was looking up at the ceiling in the rain part.

Deffo thumbs up from me on improvement from soundbar. Will report back once had more time to test.

Sonos stuff always looks god and sounds great the nay sayers will always price point and pick out the gaps in the specs but it’s never been the point of Sonos, glad you are happy with your purchase great work on the install!

You used the official Sonos wall mount? Do you reckon it would be usable attached to TV brackets instead of a wall?

Yes the official one. Actually sits a lot better than the playbar did. Found the playbar sat slightly behind the TV where as this one sits in line.

Not sure on the brackets as it slots down the arc but sure you could work something. I heard they were making a official TV bracket for it soon anyway. Problem is you really do need that clearance for the upfiring speakers which is why they've brought it away from the wall slightly, but it really does look like it's floating and super nice looking.

My Sonos dropping our often now. Seemed to do it when an electric whisk was being used! I think it's WiFi module is just ancient as hell at this point .

.

Well the optical part would go into the TV, so when you want to do it, just flick the cable over from the earc port to the other hdmi part of the connector, nice and easy :)

Yeah, I just can't be bothered to do that though:D, to be honest getting the LG CX and eventually the Sonos ARC, this will drive me away from disc based media even more, I don't buy discs much but do still rent, I may cancel my disc rentals eventually and just rent digitally from somewhere like Apple on the internal app of the TV. In a way might save me money as I will only rent the odd title that I particularly want to watch.
I might still buy the odd UHD providing it has Atmos.

What do you do for movies?

I just stream stuff.

Sky UHD
Netflix
Amazon
Disney+
Rakuten (If I want to buy something)

Hoping the PS5 will have Apple TV as I do have a few purchases on that with uhd upgrades available, then I can also buy disks too if I want... I'll need a new TV for uncompressed audio though unless LG do upgrade the B7 to earc but highly unlikely and doubt I'll buy a new TV just for earc at the moment haha.

Same with Netflix and Disney +, that's plenty for me along with the Apple app for rentals, I sometimes purchase movies on apple as well when they do some great deals. I will miss renting discs, but the future is digital.
