Maybe not the pc but there are other media devices that could take advantage of it such as a laptop. I've worked at tech companies within the development department and I suspect that they haven't assessed the market and it's a case of it being it to the back of the pile due to people using audio programs and apps that are not part of their own application.I suspect Sonos have assessed the market for Smart Speakers vs PC Speakers. In my experience your opinion is in the minority. It's a small use-case for a niche set of users.
The majority on a PC forum might agree, but the mass population probably wouldn't. Most of my friends don't even own a PC.
It's just such a niche use case. The bigger market is in streaming and multi-room streaming. The PC speaker market is also far more competitive and you can get better speakers for that.Maybe not the pc but there are other media devices that could take advantage of it such as a laptop. They want us to use the Sonos app due to things like returning usage data. Apple are the same.
Plus there will be the added issue of support. If you get someone calling about the Sonos app they can provide support through training for staff using their own application, it's a completely different story and more expensive to train staff to troubleshoot why it's not working through extra program and applications like windows or you tube.
I also agree with the majority of people in this thread, no reason for Sonos speakers to support PC playback. Why would they? The advantage is the ability to stream anywhere in the house, or to multiple rooms. In my office; I'd never use it as a room that guests might be in, so would not want to take advantage of the multiroom ability. As a speaker, there are better ones out there for such rooms. It might be different if you have a large games room where you entertain, in which case Sonos might save you from having both PC speakers and multiroom speakers in the same room (if Sonos supported PC playback), but I imagine that is a minority, hence why Sonos don't support it.
In terms of PC playback, I did think about using a Beam, but only due to the fact I have got a quite narrow desk, and working from home having a monitor, speakers and laptop isn't very practical. Otherwise would opt for some PC speakers.
It really depends how loud you like to watch films In general use, it can be fairly subtle. Can't really sleep tonight and I'm starting to worry if buying the sub in haste was a bad idea?
We live in a semi-detached house and the TV is on the detached side of the house. I'd be having the sub along that side of the wall, so away from the party wall.
is this going to cause more headaches than it's worth? I don't want to be a problem neighbour but I do also want to enjoy watching films.
can i have a sub and still be courteous?

I've only ever had mine at 100% twice (Playbar/Sub/Surround) and our neighbours - who are about 50 metres away from our house did mention it the next dayoccasionally I like a loud movie but typically the arc never goes above 25-30% during day-to-day viewing. I don't necessarily want a sub for the loudness but rather to give the Arcs much lacking bass a helping hand
bought it from Richer Sounds and they are quite good in case I find it a bit too much. Or rather in case Ms Junglist finds it too much
You can adjust the bass and subwoofer levels independently in the Sonos app, so your neighbours will be fineCan't really sleep tonight and I'm starting to worry if buying the sub in haste was a bad idea?

Subs are great
Rears make little difference compared to the Sub. I'm actually tempted to remove the rears on mine.Only problem I have with it is the price. It is comically expensive for what it is and I'm a bit annoyed it's so much as the One SLs are on sale at Costco today or tomorrow for £120 each! Would've loved to have got them for surrounds (though the reason we went for the Arc over the Beam was my partner didn't want the rears - I'm yet to convince her) but that's another battle I'm yet to have.
Loving the sub though. She was really against me buying it but she then spent all evening listening to music. She'll come around to getting the full set!
