***Official Squad Thread***

That's one of the reasons I'm not backing the game even though I'm interested in it. It's not keeping in line with the spirit of Early Access. If I pay for an Early Access game I expect to play it immediately throughout development. Asking more money to have what they consider a privilege to play pre-alpha and closed alpha builds is taking the ****.

Looking through all the Early Access games I've bought within the past year(s) (some which have been released now):

- Assetto Corsa
- DayZ SA
- Verdun
- Killing Floor 2
- Intersteller Marines
- Insurgency
- Contagion
- Trine Artifacts of Power
- Brawlhalla
- The Forest

There are probably more to that list but they've all allowed me to play the game and contribute towards it's development from the get go. Not a month down the line, not a year later but immediately.

Yeap.

Fair enough it might not be possible for them to do but id most definitely part with my money if i could play it now instead of months down the line.

id like to give feedback and help with development.

I understand Kickstarter needs the proverbial carrot and stick but their Alpha, Pre-alpha, pre-alpha weekend shenanigans seems a bit off.

Maybe just me being a grumpy git :)

I don't particularly agree with the 'I paid money, gimmie now!" bit but otherwise this is hitting he nail on the head for me. Seems to me that devs in general are taking this early access malarkey waaaay too far these days.

That said, this looks to be shaping up nicely and I do remember PR being superb so I'll be keeping a close eye on it and will probably pick it up closer to release.

I really want to back it, but so many questions....

i.e 100 man servers, great but theres so many big games that struggle to fill 64 player servers and this is even more niche, what if I only end up playing with 5 or 6 people?

also I really don't get, having looked through the website and watched the videos, where its headed, apart from a bit of CTF as a rifleman what else will there be to do?

For someone potentially looking at spending $100 its a bit vague

Wouldn't worry about empty servers. Project Reality, the game this is taking to the next level regularly has full 100 man servers even after 10 years. The community is what makes this sort of game and they are very loyal. Game mode speaking there will be:

AAS (Assault and Secure) - which is just your basic battle over areas on the map. Eventually these areas can be made random at the start of the round so every time you play will be different.

Insurgency. The assymetrical game mode. Featuring unconventional forces defending weapon caches. The conventional forces have to gather intelligence and find and destroy these caches.

Skirmish - Small scale infantry mode intended to be played by the Clan community/groups.

Others are planned but I can't go into any detail about those.

It's not just a rifleman you can play as. We have the kit role system, be it a machine gunner, sniper, grenadier, APC-crewman, helicopter pilot, squad-leadership, construction engineer, medic, forward observer or even a plain old rifleman, every role has a part to play in the battle. This clear division of responsibilities greatly helps the experience as no one soldier can possibly do the job of an entire army. Personal progression is not measured by how shiny your weapon is, but how flexible you are in mastering all the different battlefield professions.

And I've not even mentioned air assets!

well thanks for clearing that up, definitely useful info there, cant help but feel maybe they should have some info like that on their website though?? Unless I missed something...

I am holding back.

The cash grab is strong with this one.

I expect none Kickstarter backers will be able to "buy in" at some point before a full release on Early Access.

Why have Early Access if people cannot buy into Early Access?

Some EA titles even participate in Steam sales.

Odds of this being in the Christmas sales?

Are there vehicles in the current builds?

PS: what part of Lowestoft are you from? My folks are in Oulton Broad, I had to move away a few years ago as there are no jobs within 60 miles of the place. I was back up in Lowie at the weekend, Hanks on the seafront has closed down !!!> Where do the youth go to nowadays? It was a ghost town Saturday night...

You will be able to buy it on early access with Steam when the time comes, but this way, you get it $5 cheaper, plus the developers get more of the money. The percentage Kickstarter takes is far less than Valve.

Odds of this being in the Christmas sales?

Slim to none.

Early access won't be available until Q4, with the game taking "12 - 24 months after that point."

Yeah this will get funded no problem, I'm hoping for half a million target to get the British Forces!

In all honesty I think most people who haven't played PR would be happy with the $30 rifleman package, all this pre and alpha stuff is largely for the more hardcore fans with game experience.

Vehicles are not in the builds that you have guys seen in game but they are in! The main focus is getting the infantry combat spot on before really focusing on the vehicles though.

I think the youth go around Oulton Broad these days, the main town is pretty rubbish now!

Thanks again for those that have supported us!
