That bit confused me too, but it states a game key below. So I presume you get the game key which also provides Steam early access. This would ordinarily cost $35, so you save $5.

Reading it again I think I'll go for Commander access so I get pre-alpha closed super dooper mega access.

There are so few games to play atm :/

I think the game key is separate, for the release, but I could be wrong. Its a little wooly!

Either way, I think I'll back it to take part in the early access, it looks like a good project and listening to the DDG video the Dev talking sounds passionate about getting it right.

Is the $30 backing making the early access $5 or $5 off that additional cost?

I guess an idea of when the early access starts (if it's not already live)

• Closed pre-alpha = using our current key system (we distribute ourselves) - Right after KS (Rewards are given when KS succeeds, can't give you rewards with money we don't have)
  
• Closed alpha = using limited steam keys (download through steam) - TBD
  
• Open alpha = early access = using open steam sales (download through steam) - TBD

All packages Rifleman and above give you Early Access keys.

The other stuff, we are having a big meeting tonight to go over the latest feedback, please be patient with us, we are going to be as transparent as possible with all of you.

The whole idea of EA is that you get to play builds of a game as it progresses. The $30 doesn't state you get to play closed Alpha builds which God knows how long will last, it could be a year until the game comes out of Alpha since the other packages mention PRE Alpha
