***Official Squad Thread***

Bit late on my part, apologies!

Happy Holidays!

Hello Squaddies, new and old!

We want to wish everyone a happy holidays and as we say farewell to 2015 there are a number of things we want to announce before the year is out.

Hackers & Anti-Cheat Measures

This is currently one of our top priorities and at the moment we're working on this issue in earnest. Unfortunately we cannot divulge any more information about this issue but it is a top priority.

General Development

Due to this months momentous release on Steam Early Access, a large amount of development time has been focused on the release itself and sending out hot fixes for critical bugs, including performance and general stability. Dont worry though, content-related developments are still continuing in the background but the focus right now is performance and player experience, so well wait for the January re-cap to update you on all the content goodness.

Vehicles

We have had a number of updates regarding this highly sought after feature in recent months, but the reality is that they are not in a state where they can be rolled out to the public. Our programmers ran a number of tests on fully populated servers and experienced a lot of rubber-banding due to the vehicles de-syncing. This is a side effect of physics and replication on the servers not performing as intended.
Unfortunately this is all a follow-on from the fact that a lot of rewriting needs to happen within the engine code itself, as we are going into territory that no other Unreal Engine 4 game has gone before. To that end we ask for your patience and we will continue to put out updates on vehicles as they happen.

IndieDB Awards

In more exciting news, we're proud to announce that Squad was voted 2nd place in the Players Choice awards at IndieDB.com, and Best Upcoming game in the Editors Choice category! We want to thank the community and the editors for their support and votes.

Offworld Out.

Melbo, keep having and issue with the server browser not showing all the servers.

I've found this site which shows them all: http://squad.rocks/

Only half of the servers show up for me but different ones every time?

Others are having this issue too it seems: http://forums.joinsquad.com/topic/9091-server-browser-issues/page-2?hl=+server +browser

Fingers crossed we've solved this issue for the next update which contains more Steam integration.

Finally picked this up yesterday and thankfully had a full squad of my buddies to help me with getting acquainted. I've fallen in love with this game already! Played over 6 hours straight... however, and I know they're working on it, the hacking is out of control!!!

At least every other server we joined the second you got in there you just hear what sounds like an airstrike and there's some dude glitching around and just dropping constant grenades and killing everyone on the map.

When that wasn't happening though, it was incredible :)

I have been looking at this game looks realy good but £30 is a hell of a lot of money :(

Im on the verge of buying it because it looks great and Battlefield 2 was definately worth the £30.

Just not sure I will get into it like I did BF2 as it seems much more Arma style

Thats the thing I love arma but fed up with BIS crap fixing stupid issues and not the real issue of crap performance even from a PC like NASA`s

shame they dont do a 4 pack like they do with a lot of COOP games would split it with a few peeps on here.

I did search for that buy couldnt see anything. It also didnt appear to be available anywhere else apart from direct on steam

Done. Just need to transfer to my ssd and create the junction as dont want any slow downs

This is how to use a junction (if you want to move a game from your steam library to ssd or another drive)

cmd
mklink /D "D:\Games\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Squad" "G:\Games\Squad"

I moved the game from D:\ (default steam media library) to my SSD (G drive) then run the above command to create a virtual shortcut so steam things its running from D, even though its not. When yuo want to move it back, just delete the shortcut and move the game folder back :)

Like I said I played arma back in OFP days I have ALL of the expansions for it so if this is any thing like arma (which it does look like it) then i will love it.

It's nowhere near how "milsim" the Arma series is. Try and find a place between BF2/3/4 and Arma. That's what we're aiming for.

Fun PvP which you can drop in and out and find a huge level of accessible team play/

Hi again.
from your wording i assume u are a dev
This is awesome that your here :)

Well ok this does sound exactly like my cuppa :)

I shall save me pennys for this beauty then thanks :)

Here's 3 pictures. It actually runs great, I just had to turn down resolution scaling a bit. None of the other settings seemed to change FPS much but res scaling hammers it. These run great though. Will definately take some time to learn but seems a LOT easier than Arma and very fun to play. There were proper teams and people talking to each other (in french in the one i joined, but still)

Looks like it could be my new BF2, but less arcadey

Sorry, yup I'm on the dev team.

It's currently only infantry only with the aim to introduce vehicles in soon. Game play is still very early and because of being only infantry it plays quite a bit faster than we will have it when it's feature complete.

Download and play Project Reality if you want to see the direction the game will be heading. It's now free and stand alone. A lot of the core devs from it are now on Squad :)
