***Official Squad Thread***

Here's 3 pictures. It actually runs great, I just had to turn down resolution scaling a bit. None of the other settings seemed to change FPS much but res scaling hammers it. These run great though. Will definately take some time to learn but seems a LOT easier than Arma and very fun to play. There were proper teams and people talking to each other (in french in the one i joined, but still)

Looks like it could be my new BF2, but less arcadey

Turn AA off completely. It's currently broken in UE4. 4096 shadow resolution is pretty much is overkill and can be turned down a notch. I hate playing with anything under 100% res scale as it really ruins the look of the game. I normally play on 125% but we have a strange issue currently where some maps have their own resolution scale set higher than others.

The big killer is shadows. I normally drop those down to medium/high.

Sure. Think I should dig my headset out, im sure its a game where you actually need to communicate with people or will end up just running around in circles or dead in 10 seconds (as I did just then)

On the training map I was playing with settings and shadows didnt seem to make a bit of difference

Yeah i have a mic etc

Sounds fun i shall report back when i get the game..nit sure when that actually will be though but yes see u oj the battle field :)

Training map is one of the ones having an issue settings its own resolution scale. If you play it local and set your res scale to 66% it will look perfectly fine but if you go into a server with that map running then 66% res scale looks like absolute arse!

Do you mean a different in looks or performance when altering shadows?

Turning off shadows completely / low renders about 4fps different from off to max shadows.

It from from 43fps > 47fps when I turned them off. AA also is working for me and turning all off to highest only drop about another 2fps. Scaling however from 100% at 1440p to 80% at 1440p fps goes from 43 > ~65 and to me doesn look a great deal different. You can notice it but only if you really look for it.

Had some really great games, Love that some leaders really know what they are doing and you feel so involved in the squad.

So is there a squad running from OCUK ? any Discord channel or anything ?

I moved the game from D:\ (default steam media library) to my SSD (G drive) then run the above command to create a virtual shortcut so steam things its running from D, even though its not. When yuo want to move it back, just delete the shortcut and move the game folder back :)

that's all stuff you can do within steam now (unless im missing the point)
settings > downloads > steam library folders > add library folder. I have my main games on a ssd and the rest on a mechanical raid0

In case anyone is interested in watching there is a clan match being streamed tonight on Squad League Starting at 6pm GMT. This may give you guys unsure of buying what Squad is all about.

I also took part in a community fight night on Wednesday which was great fun. The two highlight videos do contain a few swearies so i cant link it. But search on Twitch for "russuk" and you will see them in the highlights section.

I tried using that for half life 2 when I had a few mods and it didnt work correctly. All the mods needed to be installed in the same location for it to work (or certain ones did) anyway i searched and found the junction thing.

Its useful for other stuff outside of steam too

Back on topic, I have connected a headset to use the mic whiclst still using my floorstanding speakers. The mic seems to wrok in Windows but in game testing it no-one replied that it was working - either it didnt work or they just ignored me

Exactly what i do and it works for me, usb headset using the mic only, and optical for my surround home cinema speakers, make sure to chouse recording in control panel as your headset, and playback your optical or what your main sound is.

Make sure the mic is set as your default communication device in windows, also in Steam -> Settings -> Voice make sure the correct recording device is chosen.

Noobs always welcome to the skunkdogz server as long as you can listen to orders and what not :-) there's no I In team ;)

Dammit, first half decent game in skunkdogz and it existed and said my video driver crashed!

Guess I should update it im on 363.62

Mic now working at least :)

I played with the red coats, amazing stuff other than the server issues at the start but it speaks volume not just about the community but the platform already in place.

Wouldn't have been close of ticket bleed was working as its all about the objectives.
