******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Made a point to avoid all SC media since announcement, haven't even watched any videos as I want it all to be new to me on release. What are the "flight" mechanics like? Is it movie style, based on aerial combat or does it confirm to real-ish space physics?

More realistic, they do dial back on realism in order to make the game playable by not having near unlimited top speeds (net code would never cope) and some other elements. What a lot of people coming from Elite Dangerous find odd is that manoeuvring isn't instant, thrusters on the ships generally have to rotate into alignment in order to then fire so there can be a delay in building up thrust in different directions.

I love it personally, especially with most things in space to accidentally hit, it makes combat far more interesting and generally more challenging than Elite.

101..

Only aware of two PAGANs going at the mo, couple of others I know that are attending too but quite a few from other orgs who said they'd be going are on hols etc this week so sadly will miss out I guess.

Nah seem to be limited to one per account and it shows up in a different section, nothing stopping me making other accounts and buying them but at $60 a pop I'm not keen as it's unlikely I'd get a refund lol

Smelly Legend, Curunen, Wynthorpe and myself. No aware of anyone else being stupid hardcore enough to go for it :) There's a couple of threads so far about being not even being notified the sale was on and being a bit ***** about it, can understand why tbh, normally we'd be told in advance by a week or two. Going to be some disappointed holidaymakers when they get back!

I booked into Bewleys nearby, need a taxi to/from but there's likely to be a few SCers booked in. England rugby match on the same day in Manchester so worth getting a hotel soon if you intend to stay over.

Likely going to be 6pm to midnight for the event, then the pub..

You can get cheaper but then need to travel much further so IMHO just not worth it, Uber works in the area so getting a taxi to Bewleys won't take long and we'd likely be doing it from one of the pubs near the airport so don't have to worry about entertaining ourselves whilst waiting :P
