******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Quick question - logged on to my account for the first time in ages and it seems I have 3 packages - the original backing pledge and 2 AMD bundles (which I think I must have got from an AMD graphics card and one I won using the AMD rewards points things in a lottery). Question is - is there actually any benefit to having more than 1 package?

No, you only need the game once :D

One or both of the AMD packages might have single player Squadron 42 game bundled with it, if you want to keep that be careful about what you do with which package.

Thanks humbug - checking the AMD packages, neither of them has Sqn 42 - it's only my original pledge that does.

So - is there any value to the other packages (I imagine anyone with any interest in Star Citizen already has access to at least the main game)?

There is some value in them yes, do they have an option to gift them? if so go to Star Citizen Trades, people will pay real money for them, they would be worth more with SQ42 but the AMD ship also has value.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Starcitizen_trades/ on the right pane look for "where to start? "

Its very complex how they do trades for security reasons, so read up on how its done, you can also ask in there how much the packages are worth.

Make sure you keep one of the 'packages' you need a package 'not a stand-alone ship' to play in the MP game.

So new roadmap is out
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/...orum/3/thread/roadmap-roundup-april-17th-2020

And I do not believe anyone was surprised for the further delays..... Even PCGamer starter blasting at them

https://www.pcgamer.com/star-citizen-players-arent-pleased-with-recent-roadmap-changes/

While ofc the cheating will continue until the foreseeable future.

The server to client actor networking rework is one such feature, which has been delayed until 4.1. Players and AI characters are handled by the client, which means when you perform an action, the local client does the action and then sends the information to the server, at which point other players see it happen. It's apparently been a problem when it comes to tackling cheating, and it also means players see a lot of rubber banding from players with poor connections. With the rework, this will be handled server-side.

That alone is fundamental issue that should have been designed from the very start as in any other MMO game. However it shows how poor the design of the whole project is, especially when is obvious that would require full rework on Server & Client and wasn't even thought of almost a decade later.

Apparently some were....

"Devs shock fans everywhere with more delays". :D

Don't get me wrong I was excited for this during the kickstarter and I've stuck my head in this thread every year or so since as I don't want to play a tech demo... Nothing has changed. Sure, the tech is better but there isn't a game here. I wonder how many backers have died since?

The people who pledge for their spaceships will get to test-fly them long before the general public. 12 months in, we will allow the early backers to play the multiplayer space combat Alpha, and then 20-22 months in they will get to play the Star Citizen Beta, adventuring around the huge open galaxy, well before the general public. We are going to limit our alpha slots to 200,000 as we want to stress test the game with real users, but will not be ready for the full load until we have finished Beta.

That was nearly 100 months ago! Maybe this is something I can leave to my kid :D

Make a will so they won't fight over it in the middle of space and have it blown up by mistake :D

Btw "Huge open galaxy". That should be on the kick starter. Because since 2013 (after the KS) it was said there they will be 12-13 hand crafted systems, which after all this time is half of one and bits of another exist and those procedural generated..... And I was blasted few hundred pages back (around 2015ish) when pointed the hypocrisy against Elite billions of star systems and was told that SC will have hand crated systems and planets, not procedural generated like Elite....... :D

Some of the comments
"And one day they'll remove the entire game before it's ever released :D"

"If this keeps up, I'll retire before Star Citizen gets released."

Or this from the official announcement comments

Why can't CIG be more competent. we are getting less content per quarter. They put stuff on the roadmap, only to remove them. At this rate, it will take a few years before the game goes into beta. Why can't we talk to the CIG employees? We paid all this money, and yet development is as slow as molasses. Why can't they hire more people and get their acts together. Right now we have a buggy game, and its been in alpha for so long. And CIG is not fixing anything. They are only focused on Squadron 42. I want to see more action, and more content like they promised. How can they put stuff on the roadmap, but not commit to them as originally scheduled? They were working on the Crusader landing zone, and it looked like it was halfway finished, and they are saying they need another 8 months? that is ridiculous. Don't we have a voice?

Only just got on after not playing for a few weeks. I have no idea.
All I know is that I still have all my stuff, including the Sabre I ground out 2m creds for :)

You could do missions before anyway. Just that some were bugged.
