******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Fans want a roadmap which lays out when SQ42 will be ready.

The release time frame on original roadmap is already passed, or at least according to it we should be near Beta testing, instead the new roadmap has been delayed 6 months.

The new roadmap, if and when it ever arrives will not be about when SQ42 is ready, but instead will vaguely cite what is currently being worked on, like an episode of Inside Star Citizen in text form.

Given the roadmap is 6 months delayed already, and they don't want to put a time frame on SQ42 release i think we can surmise its years away, this is ##### ridiculous now especially given that apparently the reason for the Multiplayer Star Citizen games slow and anaemic development is because most resources are in trying to get SQ42 out.

Since the Pyro system hype in Cintizencon November last year very little progress has been made to the PU, we certainly don't have the Pyro System and we are not going to have it by the time the next Citizencon was supposed come along in a few months, we are not going to have Pyro this year and i'm not going to hold my hopes up for having it at any time next year, the next year or two is going to be tinkering around the edges of the Stanton System as it currently is and Chris is going to bring back all of this gyro hovering crap that no one wanted and everyone hated.

Yesterday it took me 20 minutes of holding down the space bar to get the Reclaimer out of MicroTek's atmosphere..... the development time is taking the pee and Chris keeps going back and trying to turn it into the game no one wants.

I think reality is dawning at last. I just makes you wonder how much further they'll push the BS envelope next...they can't even realease a fully formed roadmap for a roadmap all at once, even that is apparently happening in four stages.

$300 million and 8 years later.

The problem is Chris Roberts, the man has a great vision and some great ideas, but he doesn't know when to commit, the project is ballooning out of control and some of his bad ideas keep creeping back in after they have been rejected by backers.

Chris needs to step back from micromanaging this project, he needs someone managing him.

I do wonder if the money stopped rolling in it would lite a fire under their backsides but at the same time i do want this game to get done and my fear is with Chris and his constant feature creep they haven't already burned through all their money.

Is it vision or fantasy?

I think it ballooned out of control a long time ago, it is what it is, an on-going business just like any other, but without any end product. I think you can swap out backers, who at the outset could be considered investors, for just plain old customers. I think if they ran out of money it would simply collapse and they'd have to release SC at least as is. But the money keeps rolling in, for sufficient fires to be lit, it would also mean that Roberts loses control of the project. Can you see CR handing control over?

Just have to see how many more spaceships they can sell, or naive investors CR can rope in.

I still love it, but yeah I was fed up with CIG (or more specifically Roberts) ages ago.

I definitely enjoy dropping in every patch, playing for a bit and seeing what’s new but certainly won’t be throwing any more money their way any time soon. I’ll just sit back, keep a loose watch on development and hope that eventually they release something worth playing properly rather than once every few months.

The roadmap for a roadmap made me chuckle though. Useless.

It looks to me like dev on SQ42 is dead, they were using dev on SQ42 as a way of excusing the lack of dev of the PU. And they just got called out on it, and the roadmap for a roadmap proves it. I don't doubt that shortly they'll have some amazing trailers etc out, because they are incredible at marketing, great screenshots, awesome vids it's all happening folks just look how pretty it all looks in 4K.

I have it on good authority that a new roadmap for the latest roadmap to the original roadmap is being developed but that roadmap has already slipped so a newer roadmap is going to start once they've roadmapped it.

I heard that they're going to be selling a physical roadmap in their next big ship sale.

Surely it should be a starmap rather than a roadmap???
It would certainly be a more accurate name with the length of time between each major goal being completed.
