******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Indeed AI will but they are still working on mechanics for them as per the current roadmap and discussions they have had from even getting the AI needing to reload to changing the way they interact with the world.

Flight mechanics are okay now, it's a first step and they have said for instance on missiles this won't be done for the next step till at least Q1 2021 so how would you be able to get something to beta when missiles are not even working as intented.

Along with still needing to sort out a lot in flight mechanics in terms of they have discussed recently about reworking all the thrusters as they are not setup correctly in game, we still don't have components in ships working or being worked on currently where they are still attached to the external of the ship and not internal where slots are.

We are meant to be getting decompression of ships and similar, push/pull of character when EVA and such forth. All those are needed for SQ42 gameplay to work.

Those are just some examples of elements still needed sorting/adding as per the Devs comments over last few months. So yeah I'll stand by my Beta this time next year and release for the November ish period 2021 assuming Beta goes okay then.
A lot of that can be canned/baked in a single player shared/env .

Just because it is not on PU/being mentioned doesnt mean that it is not on SQ42 build.

There are ships in SQ42 such as the idris and javeling that are in SQ42 already but not in PU

There's no current road map. There was one in March that they stopped updating as they were too far behind then. Now 6 months later there is still no new roadmap.

But we have a pre road map which will lead in to a full roadmap for delivering the actual SQ42 roadmap... Roadmap

Amazing if you look back there was only 13 months between the releases of WC3 and WC4... I know games have got more complex but SQ42 will have 13 months in-between roadmaps!!!

Yeah I knew it was old, but I thought is was funny anyway. I've never seen a caveated road map before, a new low in game "development". They've been working on a "roadmap for a roadmap" for about a month now!

But remember there's a SQ42 beta coming in Q3!

That's definitely coming.

Indeed, however a ship not being in the PU is different to core tech that was discribed above. They have also literally stated that the flight model for both are the same as they use the same tech as well as the AI systems for both flight and FPS.

They are not seperate branches for those core elements. What they have done is added further elements to the PU versions of those codes but that doesn't change them. Also you don't have canned/baked elements for FPS or Flight AI. That isn't how it works at all.

Push/pull is also in the works coding and is again utilised by both SQ42 & PU, they haven't written it once for SQ42 and now needing to write it for the PU.

There are of course locations, ships, alien models etc that are indeed in SQ42 and not in the PU as well as the other way around too. That isn't core tech. Also where you think discord leak get info and models from, the code for those ships etc are in there on their builds but just not publically called up.

Should I avoid buying Nvidia 3080 RTX because it only has 10gb VRAM which will be insufficient for Star Citizen?

tbf mate, a gtx670 was good enough for star citizen whn they announced it, so i would not worry about the 10 gig of ram, it might or might not be enough by the time (if) it comes out.
