******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

We are all still waiting for you to share the link to the video…

There loads of videos on YT claiming that tbh. I don't think it adds anything. There also YT channels with millions of views covering SC recently with proven false information and no research claiming there are no ships in game yet and you can only purchase them in store online for real monies.

This is where the **** hits the fan and people take that and run with it without any real checks. Ah well. There are also some big YT people playing it recently are starting to enjoy it and understand it and show it for what it is. Buggy mess but fun and certainly a game in when things do work.

the scam is the launch date constantly going backwards, in another 10 years time the same people will still be buying pixels and defending it

Not quite, there is no "Launch Date", never was, that is Squadron 42 which a whole other argument.

Star Citizen is a game, a released game just not in the official sense, with problems, that is in on going development, major updates every 3 months.

They added boxes that you can place anywhere in your ship, you can use them for inventory storage and anyone can access them, great if you want to share stuff with friends and crew mates, just make sure you lock your ship when you leave it unattended.

I've always been curious about the 300 series and its atmosphere when opening the door. I've got the 325a myself but as I have no local friends in NZ to test with, does the interior ship atmosphere stop when the main door opens or is there some magical barrier? I'm curious if someone else is in there that they will die if not in a suit if the door is opened... anyone tried it?

The rework of the 300 series was done before they thought of the room system properly, it used to that the lore was you had a forcefield in the door to stop the atmosphere getting out when you opened it, if you look at some older ships they have a glowing forcefield in that space.

Recently ships have a small airlock just big enough for one person between the inside and the door, from what i gather from CIG talk this is more along the lines of how they want to do it because they want to add "Venting the Ship" as a gameplay feature, something you could use defensively when being boarded, pooping the emergency hatch or or the cargo door, or just sucking the air out of compartments. in programming terms that requires a room system.

However with some small ship's like the 300 series adding an airlock in to that space may not be possible, so even if for now there is no glowing forcefield we just have to imagine there is one.

If you look at this fun little parody video at about 2:05 you can see the red forcefield in the door.

To note that when you get in/out of a ship in space that doesn't have an airlock or similar they have stated it will vent out so you need a flight suit and helmet on to be okay. No imagining or forcefield once that is in. Some ships will fully vent and others just the cargo area or similar. Once you close up the ship will then do the room vent and pump breathable air into the space again. They have spoken about this a few times.

Seems fair enough and makes logical sense.

That's what I would expect given the 'realistic' approach CIG has taken generally, I've just never had anyone locally join me to do it and was curious. My other ships all have airlocks of some form but the 325 is the only single seater I have.

Yeah it doesn't work that way in game yet. However from the monthly report that is almost there as they have now got room state propagation working and such. For instance the ability to vent the cargo area. Then if you open the door connected too then it would also vent that room as well. Or if you have a toxic gas in the cargo area and then you open the connecting room that toxic gas would mix with the connecting room and it would produce the correct volume and density of the toxic gas etc.

Also for things like fire propagation working and being able to vent the room atmosphere to snuff the fire out is apparently working. So it pretty close to a decently detailed system with some gameplay attached too.

It certainly does. Hopefully wont have to wait too long for an AM5 vCache CPU. Think that will be what I will be waiting for next upgrade considering SC is pretty much only game I put proper gaming time into these days.
