******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Well I can't say I'm surprised that wipes are looking guaranteed.

I have. That was just an example and it wouldn't explain the difference in frames between the two cards.

The performance looks good to me, but as its only 1080 i don't really know, what i'll do, later, is go there myself with my 2070 Super.

Anywho.... 100K profit from a single drug run :D

And our usual conversation....

Having a bit of a strange one here... I just upgraded to a 3080 and done all the usual clean driver removal/install etc and yet SC is hitting roughly the same or less fps than with the 1080ti - can be plus/minus 10fps.
Other games and benchmarks seem to show the appropriate gains.

I'd like to think this is just SC being it's unoptimised self, but I'm not so sure.

What do you reckon?

This is during the day, it shouldn't matter and i'm not waiting 4 hours for it to go dark.

I think its a CPU bottleneck, his 1080Ti is running at 75%, the 3080 only at 55%.
I don't think so. You can see the CPU isn't being maxed like the 8600k clearly was.
There are plenty of spots where they'll both be at like 40% and fps is still relatively poo... It's SC.

I appreciate that, but the point was to do with a 3080 getting the same or fewer frames than a 1080ti with the same settings.
As for the clouds, I could set them from off to high and the only thing that would change is GPU usage, and GPU usage has always been weird in SC.

Anyway, I've DDU'd once more and installed studio drivers. It's improved it in some spots, others remain the same. Overall, it's still not much better than the 1080ti and it's not a CPU bottleneck.

You're probably right...

Anyway.

Yeah it's SC. Clouds have made zero difference to off/on/high/low etc. They always look **** though anyways. Constant grain showing etc.

With that I'd say that if you are on same build of SC with both cards to compare then typical SC doing random performance. If you are on a completely different build it would not really be comparing as so much engine stuffs changes between each release.

I'm going to need stabilisers on my ship when I get back into this, don't think I've logged on properly for a year now..
I've been using PTU just to have a practice. It's actually pretty good, there are less people so therefore less griefers. You also get to try out about half a dozen ships, including the Vulture and Reclaimer.
