*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

But it's a Star Wars game. I'm sure I'll speak for many when I say that don't really care much for the extended universe, I know Star Wars through the movies. Is it unreasonable to expect a Star Wars game to resemble what most people think of as Star Wars? This seems like they've taken the name, and the main themes of the world and have created an entirely new IP. It looks very much like a more fitting name would be Clone Wars Online!

Well they almost have, the Star Wars timeline isn't just the movies, This game is based along time before the movies, ofcourse it is going to have several differences, but I think they tried to make as much seem the same to the movies as possible.

From what I've seen in a couple of videos it seems the Jedi are going to be a tank class more than anything.

Jedi Knight is divided into two classes, Guardian and Sentinel. Sentinel is a dps class and Guardian is a tank class.

Sith Warrior is the same but different wording, Juggernaut and Marauder. Marauder is a dps class and Juggernaut is a tank class.

Pretty much the same as the Jedi tree on SWG, Lightside is for tanking and Darkside is for DPS, you have to make a choice.

Im happy for it to be set in whatever timeline it is, Knights of the old Republic and its follow up really drew me into that universe, it was star warsy enough to make me happy, I know the sound and look of star wars can make or break it (despite having really nothing in common with the moves, Knights felt very star warsy).

Is this still staying F2P like i heard awhile ago?

Also I hope you dont get to be jedi or sith more like they will be leaders but you wont be one otherwise it will be all lightsabers all over which will be urgh... I think if i play the game id be a bounty hunter like boba or storm tropper or whatever they are in kotor era.

Btw can you imagine a jaba race as playable. :p

Depends how they do it! They might have a free to play option which has extreme limitations on what your character can do, but doesnt stop you from enjoying the story! Never know!

I hope that quote is only referencing SWG.

Light/Dark side is a subconscious choice thru playstyle and ingame events. It applies to all classes and advance classes. A class doesn't dictate whether your light/dark side aligned.

You could end up being a Light / Grey / Dark sided Imperial Agent. Its all down to how you decide to play your character.

I've been looking a bit more at this and to be honest I think my last statements were a little hasty.

It looks pretty good, and I can now appreciate why Jedi is a starting class. I don't like it, but I think I can put up with it :p

I would *love* to see player housing, does anyone here know if there has been any clarification on this?

I'm pretty sure that the devs have mentioned that the "player housing" will essentially be their starship.

Can I have a house too please :o?

Makes sense I guess, it'll prevent the inevitable appearance of ghost towns that seem to crop up when there's player housing. I hope the customisation inside the ship is up to standard!
