*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

From videos and screenshots I've seen, as well as general feedback, the graphics look to be the most polished and impressive of any MMO released yet, by some distance. Very surprised CaptainRAVE called them shockingly poor.

Are you sure you've been watching footage of the game rather than of one of the movies? Your comment is either fanboy driven drivel or you have truely remarkable eyesight....

So is there going to be any juicy info/screenies in this thread from those lucky enough to be in the Beta, or are they all to scared? If so, where can I go for said juicy information :p?

Bear in mind that a lot of the E3 demos had the graphical options turned down when they were streamed. Add that that this is an mmo not a single player game and I too think the graphics are good. People said the same of WoW, seemed to do alright :) Most importantly it was fun to play, for 2 yrs at least.

I certainly agree that the graphics on SWToR are good enough, decent artistic styling (I also thought that WoW had decent stylized graphics). Whilst I think the SWToR graphics are good enough, I dont agree that they are the by far and away the most impressive graphics in an MMO ever released, as the individual above had said. You are right though, nice graphics are one thing, but dont help too much if the game isnt fun to play and minecraft has shown that people will play something thats fun even if the graphics are not mind blowing (though admittedly you dont pay monthly for minecraft, but thats a different issue)

Don't get me wrong, there are very good aspects to TOR. Like I said, the voice acting is supreme and the fact that each class has a meaningful story is something that works very well. There is just A LOT of work to do at the moment.

Take character creation for example - I do not like the fact TOR limits classes based on race. To make matters worse, there is a cyborg class for the Imperials!?! What a waste of a race slot! There are so many better races from the Star Wars universe that could have been used. If they wanted humans with little robot bits, just allow humans to have a robot selection bar in character creation, you don't need a whole race dedicated to it. Hopefully this is just a temporary race to fill the slot.

I will be gathering shots over the next few weeks. Hopefully the other areas look better than the starting areas (when I say better, I mean the textures, the environment designs so far have been excellent). The fresh install that I had to do fixed the missing characters, but the textures are the same.

I realise this is a relatively early beta, but that excuse has been used sooooo many times in the past.

Hehehe, I wonder how many people will make one of those and call it Locutus :D

You see, I actually like this.

Why should every race be able to do everything? All that happens then is every group looks the same.

Now add 3+ factions, meaningful pvp in segregated but open world areas with some attraction to the pve'ers, different classes on all sides for variety and imbalance, and a pure pvp server. Ahhh, I miss DAoC ;)

Started playing 7pm last night and finished at 3am got my jedi consular to level 11.

The likeness to WOW is unbelievable from the UI to the control mappings to the flight points.

The combat is more Bioware and slower paced (for melee) than WOW keyboard face bashing so far anyways.

The race choice was very limited and i was slightly disappointed. in that.

This is actually what I didn't like about Rift. i would prefer many and differernt class's rather than 4 that can do everything.

I have limited hope for MMO's any more, I think DAoC spoilt me. People interacted more via the games systems and voice chat wasn't prevelent which seems to have driven things down very 'in crowd' oriented groups. I'll no doubt give TOR a whirl but my expectations are limited.

Can you emphasize a little more on this please? Watching the game play vids from E3 the UI looked not even close to Wow

So overall is the game what you expected, was it a massive grind to get to lvl 11, was it fun , was it boring, hard, easy, lots of skills to level up, was the advanced skill tree easy to use etc

Can you do some screen shots
