*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

anyone else think this game could come out end of this year? only reason i think it is because the amount of information we're getting is almost like the game is close to release, yet afaik officially it's not due for just under a year? feel like end of august/start September they may announce xmas release.

Nope, I feel the info is just down to E3. Really even then its not all that much info.

This sucks and is awesome at the same time. The Old Republic was on of the best rpg experiences I've had, I still remember the areas and storyline pretty well but was gutted that they turned into an MMO, couldn't shake the same feeling when they turned my favorite rts into a mmo (Warcraft).. but at the same time its Bioware, one of the few game developers I any faith in.

All the voice acting is cool, and the cinematic trailers are flipping awesome but then I watch the game play videos and see what I describe as crappy mmo game play, standing in the middle of the open shootings droids, just looks so casual and not interesting nor "epic", Then I also read an article on Gamespy from people who played it saying it had all the cookie cutter fetch mmo quest crap...

I'll give it a shot, but don't have high hopes to be honest. I'd still take the single player game any day for The Old Republic.

Edit; "
Ryan Scott: My first impression of The Old Republic is "it sure is an MMO." Numeric hotkeys, kill-20-of-this-thing-and-eight-of-that-thing quest objectives, and ever-respawning enemies who dutifully stand guard, waiting for you to trigger their aggro radius -- that stuff is all here" eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

As mentioned earlier, announced at E3 to be spring 2011. Despite comments to the contrary I think the graphics look very good, better than if they were photo-realistic. As for people who have played it, it's nearly a year away and one man's meat is another man's poison, I'll wait and see for myself...

Almost every bit of news or video puts me off rather than creating interest. This will be one mmorpg (and that acronym is debateful whether it fits this game) where I will be in wait and see mode rather than just my normal method of buying every new mainstream mmo that comes out. (FFXIV is an exception, staying well clear of that, don't need to try it to know I won't enjoy it)

I just don't see anything new or interesting in what they're doing. It all looks completely by the numbers, and there isn't a 'meh' big enough for the whole space-combat-on-rails travesty they seem to think is all our tiny minds will be able to handle.

It'll be simple, easy to get into, and probably lead you by the hand from start to finish. This, combined with the fact that it's Star Wars means that it will probably sell by the truck load, but that doesn't mean it'll be particularly good :(

I still can't believe people say stuff like this.

It's still in beta!

remember this when you see pre-release MMO's.

Right off the bat, art assets are not a beta flaw. Making a model, skinning and animating it you get it right the first time. If beta was used to critique art work, everything would end up looking like picasso.

It is a concern, but, always keep in mind who has a hand in here; BioWare. Their portfolio is a saving grace all by itself.

This will be a WoW killer

Lolcano.

I am not a wow fan at all these days but silly statement is silly. The only thing that will "kill" wow is a new blizzard mmo combined with them stopping developing wow either that or a nuke on blizz hq and all their server hubs :p

it's too successful and customer friendly these days.

On topic I would play this game to see kotor story develop as you can apparently play the mmo single player if you want too but I see the mmo side of the game bring a belly flop.
