It's beta; this explains everything. They've kept the best stuff back for release.
This includes all the cool content; the amazing graphics; the never-seen-before features that will blow every other game away. Be patient.
I don't really understand why they want players to test this other inferior game while they wait for release, tho. Doesn't really make much sense to me. But hey, I guess it gives us something to do while we wait for the real game, which will be completely awesome.
And just because people say this about every MMO release, and they always turn out to be completely WRONG, doesn't mean jack. This one will be different.

If the release date rumors are accurate then I am really hoping this gets delayed by 3/4 months - I'm out of the country from October until February

I shall be getting this upon release regardless of what anyone else says about it. If I like it I shall subscribe and if not it will be another MMO I didn't play past the included month.

Can you imagine buying the base game at around £30, THEN having to shell out an extra tenner just to play it? lol

One thing is for sure, once my 30 days are over I am going to seriously miss this game. Hope it comes out soon!
