So could do with new gfx card and CPU, or over clocking CPU :(

What's 7800 in the new naming language.

Edit - actually got 7900gto so that's good enough and am sure I can overclock CPU to 2ghz or maybe it's time I find a quad core.

I know a lot of people are saying EA are basically just proifteering, but have they actually justified anywhere why the CE is atleast double the price of any other CE I can think of? I just don't get how it's valued that high.

How quickly do you get your access code after ordering from Game?

Couple of weeks yet it seems.

There-in early game access codes will be emailed to customers every Thursday for the previous weekly period from Thursday to Wednesday, when a preorder was placed. IE if a preorder was placed between Wednesday 02/11/11 12.01am to Tuesday 08/11/11 11.59pm, qualifying customers would receive an early game access code on Wednesday 09/11/11. This offer is only valid against mint boxed copy of the game and not the download or preowned versions.

It's more the fact that it's such a rip off - you get :

A plastic toy that costs pennies to make
An authenticator that you'll be able to download to your phone a week after release.
A book you'll flick through once.
A soundtrack that'll be on grooveshark the day of release.
A paper map.

And some digital tat. If I was rolling in money I still wouldn't see the point.

Edit - oh, and a big box. Apparently this is a selling point.

The Old Republic is a hyped up game, over the years it's been getting follower after follower which has created enough of an interest to exploit the game, not to mention KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2 were decent enough games and were regarded as good RPG's, and you also have LucasArts and EA behind it, plus, SWG is going, so some SWG players will be desperate to jump into another Star Wars themed MMO without doing much [if any] research at all before hitting the buy button, so that's probably a few reasons as to why the price for the CE is so high.

Big Box???

SOLD

Keep in mind that when preordering the game, they are saying that codes entered into the early access are dealt with on a first come, first served basis. Don't order the CE from GAME online, go to the store and you will get the code immediatly (I think a few have already mentioned this, but just bumping it).

I went for the standard edition, have paid for vanity rubbish before and for an MMO where you will be paying monthly aswell, it just isn't worth it.

Hope you all enjoy your CE editions though :)

£130 might not be a lot for some people?

I know folks who regular spend more then that on a night out, and have nothing but a hangover and fuzzy memory to show for it!

Thats why this whole idea that theres a credit crunch on is a myth, if there was a credit crunch on people wouldnt spent £130 on getting lathered :)

No offence to anyone here who have made similar comments, but the need to defend a game that a lot of people haven't even played yet drives me insane. Take this after the videos:

Curious what was the graphic setting for the person playing the the PvP video...Im going to assume Medium to low settings since you do get smooth texturing on the players just 20 meters away

Followed by a reply I have seen many times -

Assume medium to low? Has this person even played the game?

Hmm, rant over, I should be used to it with MMOs by now.
