*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

No offence to anyone here who have made similar comments, but the need to defend a game that a lot of people haven't even played yet drives me insane. Take this after the videos:

Followed by a reply I have seen many times -

Assume medium to low? Has this person even played the game?

Hmm, rant over, I should be used to it with MMOs by now.

At home I can view the comments and at work I cant, strange

As Captain has just mentioned the quicker you activate your code the quicker you will have access to the game. I cancelled my online order and went to the local game and got a copy over the counter with the access code.

I would do the same if you want to play asap.

It was for the people wanting to order online from Game. Amazon have been good with getting codes out straight away.

So could do with new gfx card and CPU, or over clocking CPU :(

What's 7800 in the new naming language.

Edit - actually got 7900gto so that's good enough and am sure I can over. Clock CPU to 2gb or maybe it's. Time I find a quad core.

So much fail in this post :D

I know a lot of people are saying EA are basically just proifteering, but have they actually justified anywhere why the CE is atleast double the price of any other CE I can think of? I just don't get how it's valued that high.

People say it's an MMO and Star Wars, hence the price.

It's been anticipated for a long time but IMO no game, especially a game with a subscription fee, is worth this much.

The standard game, albeit over three times cheaper, is still so overpriced it hurts.

Both should be half their respective prices to attract any attention from me. I'll wait till the launch.

ordered the game but it makes me wonder if they know this is going to fail big time. Hence the overpriced buy it now to make as much revenue back. knowing ppl wont play for very long.

If you think that’s the reason behind the pricing then that’s just ridiculous!!

Give me a good reason they selling a ce edition that is £130.00 much more than any other ce mmo out to date. just about 2 times as much.
and not just the ce all other editions. only time will tell. i know a few ppl that played the game for a long time now and they say
they is nothing to do when max lvl. rift was good leveling up now im bored to bits and played from start. will not be resubbing to rift anymore.
just thinking if this game will end up the same.

Because they can?

As has been pointed out elsewhere in the thread WoW CE editions can go for anything upto £1000.

Edit: WoW was £30 in 2005, allowing for inflation £35 isn't that different.

I normally slate people for being overly negative or overly positive about releases without knowing anything about them. However, in this case there's something really not right with this very expensive pre order, before any mention of monthly fees, or even release date.

I'm waiting for further info, give me a beta weekend, give me some pricing info, and put the game at a reasonable £25 and I'll be back in. But I'm not going to be suckered by hype I'm afraid ;)

Not too sure you can apply the inflation factor to games, I mean in 2005 I generally would pay £29.99 for a new release of a game, today in 2011 I also generally pay £29.99 for a new release of a game. Often £24.99 even. In fact I dont often see new releases at £35 , or £40.

I have to agree with others, £130 for a CE is hugely overpriced compared to other CEs imo. People will pay it of course, hell the hype for SWToR is so big that they probably could have charged £199 and some people would still have bought it. But even some of the people who have paid the £130 agree that although they paid it , they think its too much too.

It does make me curious now to see how much the monthly fee will be, I have long thought it would be £8-£10, but I'm now curious to see how much it is when announced. There has been a lot of discussion in the MMO industry in the last 18 months that the next big MMO would raise the monthly fee but nobody has yet been willing to make the move. I'm wondering if we might see SWToR go for it and move it to £12-£15 a month.
