*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Captain can confirm this. I thought they said people playing beta would not be able to do any end game content. They have already spoken about end game raids (operations)

Come on, let’s just think about this for a second, do you really think come end of lvl cap, that there is not going to be anything to do?

Daz, I thought I haven’t seen you selling much mate ;)

There was no endgame content in the beta or playtest. Like you say, they have already commented on the raids/operations - from the videos they look similar to the flashpoints you experience through the game. If so, the operations will be better than any raids from any other MMO.

The other problem at the moment is a lack of content for some higher levels to get to max level, but I am sure this will all be resolved soon.

  1. How is the agro system in this game, does it work much the same as in other mmo's like wow, I guess thats a big question, maybe you know of some articles to explain the complex details of the agro system like in raids agro devided betweem multiple mobs etc?.

As far as I can tell, the agro system is not all that different to WoW.
  2. Also if your levelling, say I'm level 10, you come along and your 3 levels above and you kill my mob after I've tagged it, do I still get xp but say like just 10xp as opposed to 100xp that I would have got it if you hadnt of come along and I'd killed it all by myself. And do you share any of that xp or does it only go to me because I've tagged it first?

Only the person who tags the enemy gets the XP
  3. Also are the mobs in the game labbeled like in wow, gray/green/orange/red for difficulty?

Not with the same colours, but there was colour coding

  4. Are there elite mobs out in the world that you can solo yourself that are harder then normal mobs of similar level and you have to be really skilled to take them out, but you can still solo them if your good? - And they drop better loot then your average mob

    Yes and Yes
  5. When you were levelling was there a lot of group quest?

More than enough group quests to keep you busy, but not feel like a burden if you don't want to do them
  6. I think this might have been mentioned before in this thread and probably been asked 50x already but is there a group finder for flashpoints?

There is a LFG option, but it is very basic at the moment.
  7. Are the flashpoints 5 man and 10 man?

4 man *I think* - you wouldn't want more than this for them anyway
  8. Also is joining a party/instance/flashpoint just as easy as in wow in the sense that I'm level 23, I been questing for 2 hours, I'm starting to get bored...I want to queue up for an instance(flashpoint) I open the group finder window, it searches for 4 other people, and then it teleports me to the instance(flashpoint) and then once the instance is done it teleports me back to where I was questing?

    No idea.
  9. Also is the loot the same like white/grey/green/blue/epic/legendary etc?

    Pretty much.
  10. Once we reach max level 50? Do we have to get attuned or do anything special before our guild can begin raiding in the Operations/Raids? Like do special quest to find keys or get attunement with honor for a certain faction or something like that? Or do we just reach level 50, jump straight into a raid and let the good times roll?

    Never got this high :)
  11. Does the game have Diminishing return in PVE and PVP?

    Yes
  12. Do certain classes have class skills/talent points to reduce agro?

    Yes, and to increase agro
  13. Did you have an addons folder in your installation directory or see an addons button when you logged in the client?

    Nope
  14. Are the auction houses linked for both factions or seperate?

    I am not sure
  15. Can we craft new items and sell them to opposing faction and can we speak to the oposing faction in-game?

    Again, not sure
  16. Are there daily quest to do which are repeatable but only once a day at max level, so we can earn vast amounts of money each day?

Didn't make it to max level, so again not sure
  17. Do our items have durability and get damaged as we fight and die in PVE and PVP? And do we have repair bills?

    Yes and yes :)
  18. When you were levelling did you notice or see any armor sets in-game for each class type, weather it be from doing flashpoints or quest or grinding honor? Do you happen to get any set pieces yourself for your classes and if so did they seem good, look good, have good stats and good bonus attributes?

Yes, there are class sets - some are easier to get than others and some look better than others. A friend of mine was a Sith Juggernaut and his armour looked very, very cool
  19. I know we have speeders to get around but how much do they cost and what skills are needed? Also what other methods of transportation is there to get around, I think we saw on one of the videos a train of some sort, is there anything else to move around a planet...I'm presuming already from planet to planet we just use our own ships, unless theres other methods to get from planet to planet like teleportation...but then again, this isnt star trek lol.

Speeders are cheap and you don't need any skills. You can buy a mount later, there are super expensive (as they should be). I think there is an upgraded version later on too. Planet to planet is your own ship.

Answered what I could :)

I'm not really sure which class I should play.

You know everyone is going to want to be someone with a lightsaber so I don't really want that.

Probably the standard soldier class because range is usually win for PVP, not sure if the offensive or defensive specialisation.

Don't really like the the sneaky class or healers as much.

Just want big armour or a big gun.

Many people said the trooper story was one of the best out there.

You would think everyone would want a lightsaber, but I was very surprised by how many non-force players there were.

Found it, didn't realise I had a second account - had forgotten some parts of my new password :(

Edit: For those of you that haven't seen it -

From what I read, the "SE" headstart is 3 days and the "CE" is apparantly 6 days. Not sure if it was confirmed but it's been quoted and written on the official forums quite a bit.

Apparently not. Doesn't matter which box you have, it will all depend on when you put your code in. No idea where that quote was from though (apart from being on the official forums) and would never be able to dig the link back out, so will wait for confirmation.

Essentially I paid a fiver to get into the headstart asap - not sure if I will be able to when the time comes, but at least I will have the option :)

But it's not a fiver for anyone that buys the standard edition, is it?

You can pre-order now for £27 and I'm sure there will be deals close to £20 before the release therefore making the digital version of the game a vastly overpriced product that people will buy regardless of what is and isn't logical.

Plus the standard edition should register on Origin, right?

I don't see this game being any cheaper upto release, if anything (being EA and the demand) I can see it being more expensive.

Even at a a little over a fiver, it still isn't much money (certainly not compared to the CE anyway!).

I would have thought a retail SE would register on Origin (not 100% sure though).

Well I ordered the boxed copy of mine from an etailer and the headstart code arrived instantly via email :p

Digital version pricing is scandalous though I imagine my retail copy could arrive late and then I don't get to log in on actual release day as presumably I'll need the code from the box

There is a grace period, so you will still be able to play :)

So would it be a good move to pre-order it from Coolshop now and wait till anything else pops up on cheap?

It's only £27 atm and I can't really see it going below £25.

Just wondering whether they're reliable or not.

Wouldn't like to call that one, but can't see it being any cheaper until well after release.

As for Coolshop, I am sure others around here have experience with them...(anyone?)
