*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

This is the conversation I have just had with EA support, just in case anyone else isnt sure about it all. They had to leave mid way through the conversation to check,so even EA support are not 100% sure what's going on :

Me: well at the minute my account is showing 59.99 is unavailable to spend, are you telling me that 54.99 will come back into my account and be available to spend? Sorry i just want to be sure about this and the info thats flying about on the official forums is mixed up
Me: *well
Christie: I am sure that's correct, but let me confirm it.
Christie: Just a moment.
Me: ok, can you also ask when the funds will come back into my account?
Christie: Yes, that's true. You can spend the amount that will be credited back to your account. It may take 2 to 3 business days in order to return the funds back to your account.
Me: ok, thanks for your help. There is a lot of confusion over this, maybe an idea to update the official forums as there is a lot of people giving out the wrong information. Some people are stating that it will be held and not available to spend until the release of the game.
Christie: I hope that the information given clears the doubts you may have had. And I appreciate the idea of putting/updating the game forums with this information.
Me: thanks christie, you've been a big help
Christie: Welcome.
Christie: Is there anything else that I may help you with today?
Me: lend me a grand?
Christie: What do you mean by grand here?
Me: £1000

Half of the answers to those questions are official, go check the Star Wars website/forums.

As for the rest, he'd be breaking the NDA by answering them all so don't hold your breath :P

He's been breaking the NDA for the past several weeks answering questions, giving screenshots and opinions, dont think he will stop now. He's been a reliable source of info so far, I'm sure he will answer the questions when he reads them :)

I have never had / played an MMO before, certainly not one that you pay a subscription for, yet this is the only one i have seen so far to grab my interest. Yet the price and game lifespan do worry me. For those with experience would you recommend waiting for the game to be out for a while to see what kind of reception it gets or to dive in blind and hope we all have not been ripped off by EA again. :)

Apologies if this has been answered. For those with early access codes, will the game be available for download or will shops/online stores be sending physical copies out ahead of official release date?

If it was me, I'd wait for it to be out for around 3 months and see what peoples opinions are after 3 months before buying. I find that anything with this amount of hype is usually best to wait, let the hype die down and people to view things in the cold light of day. MMOs are usually around for years, in the long run there is nothing lost in a good MMO by waiting for 3 months to see how it goes. Thats what I'll be doing anyway :)

Just play the game how you want to play it. Create a toon of your choice, level it from level 1 to level 50 doing the flashpoints as you level and choosing the sotry line you want. Then once you have reached end game decide whether you want to join a raiding guild and do end level content, PvP or quit the game and come back once more content is added. Above all make sure you are having fun.

Me personally, I've done the whole end game raiding in WoW for 5 years. So I'm past that. I just want to have fun so end game for me will be PvP and ganking Sith scumbags on my Commando/Smuggler :)

I wouldn't worry too much about endgame. When WoW was released there was no end game, then they released Molten Core. The way I see it, EA/Bio are just waiting to see the numbers but trust me, there will be end game content. Just don't worry yourself too much over it for the moment.

You will probably have to download it. They won't send out the discs until the release date.

I just want to emphasise this, spending silly money now is mad imo, I'm definitely not taking the risk and I'm an utter Star Wars nut so I'm not bashing it!

Trouble with siting is you get behind anymore importantly sat there wanting to play it every day for three months to save £10.
I'd rather play it and for the amount of time spent on it, it's one of the cheapest entertainments about.

I don't ran so much ranking up. But a new game, everyone's new. Forming groups helping each other out etc. After. A few months that starts to die out and you only get occasional helpers. You just seem to miss a massive part of the game and the game play changes.

Still no word of subscription fees, release date, open beta. Seems all too like they got leaked and panic started pre-orders, otherwise it's very odd.
