Surprised at that. I'd have seen him as a better fit for United, given that the other two are pretty chock full of midfielders. But he's supposedly pretty determnined to stay in London, isn't he?

I definitely won't complain if Arsenal get him.

Barcelona are determined to sign Fernando Torres from Liverpool but say they will not pay more than £38m for the Spain striker.
Full story: Daily Mail

I think its funny how Barca keep saying we want this player or that player but we will only pay "X" amount for them like its a honour for them to come after your best players.

If they would only pay £38m then they certainly arent determined are they. Real would probably double that price...that I would consider determined.

Or maybe they dont want to waste money on someone who cant even stay fit for a whole season??...sure Real have the resources to spend £80mill on a player whereas Barca dont want to spend that much...which is fair enough because remember Real have the spanish royal family propping them up;).

Personally £38mill is about right for Torres as its highly unlikely you will get a full season out of him....mmmmm Torres, Villa and Messi at Barca...now that would be an awesome strikeforce right there.

It's just stupid, if Chelsea release him and we can get him on a free it'd be an absolutely superb signing.

We're flaky on the left wing at the best of times, Giggs getting on in years... Nani very hit and miss, we've sold Tosic... Meh :(

If we really aren't buying players because of the "inflation of player prices"... then if something like this comes up, we need to sign the best we can get on a free!

Arsenal's wage structure does allow for higher wages though, Arsenal's players probably earn more in relation to Spurs players

He'd pretty much take BFS' wage, assuming the latter's still planning on buggering (no pun intended) off to Celtic, so I doubt it would affect our wage bill at all.

maybe not for the £100k a week he is supposed to be demanding!!!

Apparently breaking news on Sky Sports news saying the same regarding Joe Cole, so 2 things we no for sure

1- Joe Cole wont be going to United
2- United wont be making any signings this summer

In other news Barcelona have signed Mata from Valencia :(

So next season their team will no doubt be.....

GK: Valdes

RB: Alves
CB: Pique
CB: Puyol
LB: Maxwell

CM: Fabregas
CM: Xavi
CM: Iniesta

RW: Messi
CF: Villa
LW: Mata

With a bench of: Pinto, Milito, Abidal, Busquets, Keita, Pedro & Ibrahimovic

Jesus christ!

I can't see Wenger being willing to break Arsenals wage structure, either.

If Arsenal did get him they wouldnt break the wage structure as they would offer him a signing on fee that makes his wages up to the £100k mark but still keeping him in line with the others.

I dont know why anyone wouldnt want a full England international for free especially who is only 28.

Minus Fabregas as we wont sell him :p That will be the 2011-12 lineup when Fabregas goes there next season

I think that rules out a Torres bid then, otherwise they would just be plain greedy :D

This

To be honest though for the lift of me I just cant see Joe Cole fitting in at Arsenal, no other English players there for a start

Seems to me Spurs is the most likely fit

Stop being so pessimistic - we certainly do not know this for "sure".

you may turn out to be correct on Sep 1 , but you dont know for sure right now!!!

edit - Actually you are wrong - we have signed Hernandez this Summer, although I realise you meant "making any more signings"

Seems to me Spurs is the most likely fit

I cant see Levy agreeing to 100k /week either to be fair

I could have sworn that Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere were at Arsenal. They've also currently got Sol Campbell and Keiran Gibbs too I believe plus Aaron Ramsey is Welsh so is still British also.
