Define great job.

You'd win some games at least? :p

He'd use what he has, if it's true about the limited fundings you have. He seem's to be able to transform players. Problem is, I'm not sure whether he wants the job or not - he will be definitely putting his reputation on the line IMO, so much pressure to take on the job after how many people seemed to really dislike Rafa. I'd rather lose him to England, anyway.

I would have thought Liverpool would go for that Real Madrid guy that just left 'em, but have they already spoken to him? If so - would have assumed they'd want to get him signed fairly quickly.

Would Liverpool go for Leonardo?! :p (anyone but Hodgson, please - we're screwed if we get someone else) :/

No-one would do a great job at Liverpool, because no-one will be allowed to have the neccesary funds to rebuild the team. Their best bet is maybe a good motivator like Hiddink, to convince Torress not to leave/Gerrard to buck his ideas up.

Good to see Yaya Toure score a good goal!! hopefully hes doing that at COMS next season :-)
I think Hodgson is going to do a good job at liverpool but i just see the americans treating him as badly if not worse than Benitez and then his reputation will be ruined.

Hodgson can use what he has/limited resources, it's just whether or not it'll work with players at Liverpool I guess.. I'm still hoping Liverpool get one of the recently departed managers though.

Wenger says we'll be "Signing someone soon but it's a surprise".

I don't think it's going to be a surprise... the stories about Koscielny have been going on for an age now, I really hope that isn't the surprise. Koscielny has only had one season in the top flight as well, and in France which is hardly the most competitive league in the world, he's also quite young, only 24 and is pretty much an unproven talent at the highest level. Hopefully we add another, more experienced defender and a goalkeeper although right now I'd just settle for a proper goalkeeper and leave Almunia as cover.

Oh, and apparently we would've signed Koscielny already but Wenger left his Blackberry back in London! :p :(

Yeah that wouldnt be much of a surprise considering its been going around for about a month that we are going to get him. It must be from a team that has dropped out of the group stage. France, Italy...Algeria? :D

I hope he hasn't bought the North Korean goalkeeper although even he would be an improvement over Flappyhandski. :p

Forlan certainly wasn't fantastic last time he played for man utd :)

Some players don't settle well in certain leagues, maybe he could have done with more playtime (first ten or so matches he got the last 10 mins or so, must be frustrating)

You just can't deny his quality now, fantastic player.

Apparently if Schwarzer goes to Arsenal in the £3.5m rumoured deal, Fulham are going to sign David James. Wouldn't mind that, got a top GK coach will hopefully teach him to catch. Wouldn't mind another younger keeper, our no2 (I imagine Zuberbuhler is gone, hes like 50) isn't THAT young, so wouldn't mind someone else decent.

He's just one of them players, quality everywhere but just didn't settle at all. I guess Veron is another one? Came to England and just didn't settle, seems to found form at the ripe at of 36 though :p

Oh certainly, he is definitely skilled, my point wasnt that he is naff , it was that he had already been tried in the premiership and it hadn't worked very well. As you rightly say, some players just don't do well in certain leagues.

that was my point with brazil striker Fabiano too.. and to those who said, '#yea but he's a player who scores goals even when he doesnt play well' - well then, which world cup have you been watching? he scored 2 goals when he was playing well, and when he wasnt he looked pretty damn tame up there...and scored 0 in those 2 matches so...exactly like i said, hes a form player, when he's on fire he is literally too hot to handle but when not, he looks terrible, and in the premiership his legs would get broken alive.

I guess at least a few people here comment on players saying they are great or they're poor without ever actually having seen them.

Personally I haven't seen Fabiano play for Sevilla so I can't comment on his club form but for Brazil he's looked "okay". He scored that great goal and then he went and handled the ball in the lead up to the other goal of his I saw. He doesn't seem to be absolutely amazing but then like I said, I haven't seen him play for his club here he could be some kind of god. He can't be too bad though as going on his club scoring record it looks like it's 127 apps and 62 goals, so that's roughly a goal every other game which is great. 20 odd in 40 or so appearances for Brazil according to Wiki so maybe he's not spectacular to watch in his build up, from what I've seen so far, but at least he's a very consistent player.

The thing I find with Fabiano, I think he doesn't look great as an individual because of the team he's in - he's not a silky smooth type of player, but he suits Brazil very well. Can't argue with the goals though, I guess.
