LUIS FABIANO EYES OLD TRAFFORD

""I have made it clear that I will not be signing a new contract with Sevilla and at 29 I now need to join a club where I can start challenging for the highest honours from the first season.

"I have heard Tottenham Hotspur made an inquiry about me but, with all respect, that is not somewhere I am going to be able to win the Premier League or the European Cup in the next three or four years.

"There would be no point in me joining Tottenham. I might as well stay at Sevilla, as it's the same thing. Sevilla are actually bigger when you look at how much we have been in the European Cup, so there would be no point me moving to a smaller team.

"The choice will come down to Manchester United and AC Milan. That is the sort of team I want to be signing for, one of the true giants of Europe. "

right then sorry spurs fans, but i hope he did come to man utd and then we could really see how well he does. he seems up for it and ready to go so why not give him a try?

TBH i'm glad he doesn't want to come. We have Defoe who is playing well and i would like to see us buy a young forward too. We have spent around 50mill on forwards in the past 2 years so we can't really afford to buy another old one without selling either Keane, Crouch or Pav.

Really hated him for the past month, right up until around 5pm. Now i hope Harry does sign him. Not sure if he will just be one of those players that have a good World cup and then flop for the rest of their career.

He's going to have the pick of clubs once the World Cup is over and Spurs wont be the one he picks!

TBH I reckon it's probably nailed on that he'll go to Bayern, not many German players go leave Germany before playing for them.

well i did say that hernandez looked the part and he proved it again tonight with his well taken goal after a great movement that gave him the space to get the shot in.

the lads quick.

if fergie whacks him out on loan or treats him like manucho or diuff or pique then imo no matter who we buy fergie will do them in before they get a decent rub.

Spot on

I honestly believe that we had/have strong interest in signing Modric, but with Spurs not playing ball and him signing a new contract that's not going to happen so if we are in for that kind of player then we'd struggle to find a better fit than this lad

Him being 21 is quite staggering as well given his ability, future BPITW without doubt

Seems a perfect fit for us

is ozil worth more or less than aguero? i would say they are both roughly the same, but different types of players. aguero works best from the wing or around the box making runs into the box, he isnt a box forward like inzaghi. ozil is more of a central attacking midfielder who likes to go forward with the ball and shoot.

aguero is rated at £35 million, therefore ozil should be roughly £35 million too, i dont think man utd can afford that with the glaziers. the only teams who will get him for cheaper than £35 million will be a german side. if someone is willing to pay £35 million which i doubt anyone is then they might get him, expect to see man city and german sides bid for him, but no one else. city will bid around the £30 mill mark and some german side will end up getting him for £15 million

He's only got 1 year on his current contract so would never fetch that much, likewise no team in Germany could afford 30+m for 1 player

I think if Bremen get 20m for him considering he's only got 1 year left on his current contract they can think that being good business

Ozil to Bayern for 20m would seem likely, that seems to happen to a lot of German players once they have a good tournament!

Raul? Really? Come on... Why would we want another striker past his prime, who'd want extortionate wages and would more than likely be no better than what we've got now!

rightly or wrongly majority of German players want to stay in the German league (similar to Spanish) - whether this is German team manager or FA only wanting to choose most players who actually play in their home coutry

would love to see Ozil at OT but I cant see it happening unless we get a bargain (in which case why wouldnt Bayern or someone similar sign him????
Raul rumour has been going for a few days now

That's a pretty ridonculous rumour tbh, can't see Fergie going anywhere near Raul. Wasn't he notoriously disruptive at Real as well?

Donovan would be a great signing for Everton, he impressed on his loan spell slotting in very quickly and he seems like a good player that would do well in the Premiership :)

That said, Southern California to Merseyside - he'd need to have really good footballing reasons or a hefty wedge of cash to make that move :p

Like Guti he's also been linked with Blackburn. I don't think Fergie would want him to be honest, he took a risk like this last year with Owen. I can't see him (unlike Guti) wanting to go to Blackburn either.

he's a proven goalscorer for club and country, he is old, but he is better than owen and berbatov. whether he could play with rooney or not is another matter. i think rooney had a great season last year, this season i reckon he will fade. i think manchester will struggle this season and could end up 4th unless they get someone with raul's pedigree in.

losing ronaldo and tevez in 1 season was the worst thing to happen to manchester utd but they were adequately re-imbursed with the £86 million that they got.

they should have bought villa even if it cost them £40 million.

they only have 1 striker at the moment - rooney, berbatov just seems to slow everything down outside the box, he is best playing the inzaghi role, poaching inside the box.

If Defoe were to find form in the Champs League, how much would Spurs particularly care that he isn't Fabiano?

your talking about a brazilian internationalist, who is a proven scorer for club and country, defoe on the other hand has just had 1 good season, they are leagues apart in terms of quality.

fabiano on a bad day will get 2 goals, defoe on a good day will struggle to get one.

I don't think United need another striker, if they plan to play 1 upfront next season then Hernandez, Berbatov, Owen and Rooney will be more than enough.

A winger and a centre midfield should be a far higher priority because apart from Valencia that midfield is dire.

fletcher and nani?

you do need more depth in midfield though, hargreaves isnt coming back i dont think and if he does he will be plagued with injury after injury, his body unfortunately wasnt made for football.
