Grr :( It really bothers me that guy's won a world cup, two champion leagues, La Liga and the EPL. He's so average it's ridiculous. He turns like the titanic and makes nearly as many fouls/mistakes as Jamie Carragher. He's very lucky to play in teams that protect him so much yet he's got an opinion on everything and generally acts like he really thinks he went from 4th choice centre back at MU to the best in the world over night.

Must be hard to see a reject do better elsewhere, huh?

Anyway, back on topic - Balotelli could be an exciting player to see in the PL, as long as he see's it as a fresh start and works hard with no trouble.

Balotelli is a quailty player and he hopefully can only get better.

Part of his problem, is the Italians.

Pique is a great center back in the making imo, I didn't want Fergie to let him to to be honest. Hard to keep a player from going to Barca though.

I agree but at the end of the day he A- wanted to go home to Spain and B- wanted first team football and at the time he wouldn't of got in the team ahead of Rio or Vida

As it turned out we haven't got a bad replacement for Pique in Evans

Forgot Villa was Signed before the WC:rolleyes:
What is lol worthy is that you say that iniesta is unlikely to get injured, when he was
a doubt for many wc games with, shock horror an injury.
This guy, even though he never gets fouled according to DM, he dives, does recieve a fair share of kicks during games.

He was never a doubt for Spain in the WC...if he was then Del Bosque wouldnt have risked him...yes he was injured when Barca were playing but they had cover for him albeit not a very good one.

Still Fabregas wont start many if any games if he goes to Barca this yr...even next yr he will struggle to break into first team football and hes not stupid to not realise that.

I wanted all 3 on tbh, sacrifice a player like Alonso who was clearly on a different wavelength to the rest of the midfield, or scrap Torres. Fabregas makes a difference.

I said it from the min he was subbed on for Alonso in the WC final that he changed the whole dynamics of the team...things were starting to happen and he had one fairly decent attempt at goal where he passed about 3-4 defenders to get himself one on one with the goalkeeper but messed it up....but then made amends for that to lay off the sublime pass for Iniesta to smash it into the goal. Luckily for Fabregas hes still young so has plenty of yrs ahead of him ie at least 2 WC's if he still keeps his form.

Saying that id love Wenger to get the Dutch goalkeeper Steklenburg...wonder how much he would cost??...27 yrs old and could be another world class goalkeeper in the making...

Vidic and Rio are getting on a bit.

Pique and Evans wouldn't of been bad replacements ;)

Vidic at 28 is still young for a centre back, especially the role he does. Pique is an awesome player, but it was obvious he wanted to go back to Barcelona.

Smalling looks "okay" from what I've seen.

Vidic is 28, but it's not far from 30 :p

I personally think with the guidance of the even better players around him - and Fergie he'll definitely become a lot better. He joined us from non league, about to go to university and ended up nearing on a first team spot with us. Had a few shaky games, but that is to be expected within 18 months of joining us from nothing. Not only that, even if he becomes half decent it becomes a good deal, he's a big lad, quite quick - and has a very decent touch for a defender. Good combinations. He could always flop of course...ah well we have the money.

:p

The Daily Fail are reporting Insua is set to join Fiorentina for £5 million pounds. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it happened given the way the club's being run. Having said that, the Fail reported Jones was having a medical with us last Christmas so hopefully this story turns out to be just as true.

he is out of favour at madrid. madrid have been known to offload unfavoured players on the cheap to fund new purchases.

that answers A, B and C. he didnt go to the world cup because real were not playing him towards the end of the season.

He isnt out of favour at all now - seeing as Jose has just arrived!!!

Very unlikely a grounded kid like Benzema would give up on his dream after a single season

Which leaves us with no left back, wondering if the rumours of us getting Figueroa are true.

Hodgson hasn't been at Liverpool anywhere near long enough to decide which players are good enough or not so it seems someone is just randomly selecting players and pushing them out of the door regardless of whether they want to go or not.

Given the amount of youth team players that are being linked with moves away I wouldn't be surprised if the whole youth team had been identified as a quick way to make a buck or two.

If he was coming in from another league I would be concerned of the willingness to sell but he's likely keen on selling players he saw as weaknesses when his Fulham team played us - I'm talking about Insua and Lucas predominantly. The releasing of Mihaylov and Duran are sort of understandable when you consider ability and injury record respectfully.

The same applies for Ngog. Whilst I don't believe he's awful, I still don't think he's ready for first team football - and definitely not in the capacity that Benitez used him in. The same could apply to Insua for that.

If we have to sell a player for £3m and spend only £2m on a new one (as a ratio) then I think we have to do that. We're in bad need of refreshing the playing squad and breathing a bit of excitement back into the team and club as a whole.

Unfortunately I think Liverpool are in an unfortunate situation. The new appointment of a manager should have everyone optimistic for the new season (even if that appointment is Hodgson) but demonstrations and protests against the owners (which are completely justifiable) is like a potential dampener to any spirit at the club. That's also not including the large chunk of fans still pining over the loss of Benitez, which is going to have a similar negative effect on everything when/if things don't start off with an instant win.
