One of those jokes when you actually understand the punchline but you are not sure if you have because its such a crap punchline that logic tells you there must be something you have missed for it to be remotely funny.

Haha destroyed, like it ;)

Sol's off to Newcastle then... shame really, he would have been invaluable backup, now we really really really are gonna need to sign a couple of players for backup, only 3 weeks til the start of the season! Get it done Arsene!

I was feeling a little better when we heard Sol was staying but we are desperate now for CBs. Surely we can get someone in. Not looking good. This whole Fabregas thing is taking up all Wengers time.

Surely there are some half decent CBs he could pick up on the cheap. Has Tony Adams still got a job? :p

Ireland to Fulham would be a great signing, think he's quality tbh.

I think Ireland would be a great buy for nearly any EPL team - with maybe Chelsea being the only team that dont have a place for him, possibly Spurs fit into the same catagory (Im not so up to speed with their squad and who they are hoping to buy)

Man Utd could certainly do with him (even if Hargreaves and Anderson were not considered huge question marks for the 1st half of the season - when in fact they are), Wenger probably wouldnt go for him but he would do a lot of the gritty stuff Arsenal sometimes arent good at,

The only potential problem is that I seem to recall he only signed a new contract 12 months ago (Mancini just doesnt seem to like him, or know how to get the best out of him) - either way I think he will be one of the many players in the current City squad with question mark hanging over their head at present

I think Benny was delayed due to Rafa's sacking. the deal was in place just needed ratifying. He wanted out, fair enough I think.

Jova he had no say in has he had signed already. I think he definitely said yes to Wilson and Cole, I don't need words from him to say so; his interviews after their purchase tells me he rates them.

No idea whats happening with Insua, so don't know what to think. Personally think he will stay anyway.

Yeah, I'll second that.

You still don't get it.

At least 5 of the 6 transfers were agreed when we had no manager. Who made the decisions?

As soon as Benitez left, his decision to allow Benayoun to leave or the decision to sign Wilson and Cole counts for nothing as he's no longer the manager. Whether you or Hodgson think any of the deals are good for the club or not, no negotiations should have taken place until a manager was appointed.

Only 1 person should be making decisions over who we buy and sell and that's the manager. Hodgson might be happy that we've signed Cole but it wasn't his decision and this is a serious issue.

Who knows what's going to happen in our remaining transfer dealings, but at very best I can see us adopting some sort of continental system where Hodgson will identify a position/type of player and the rest is left to the scouts and Purslow.

Kenny Dalglish, Sammy Lee, the coaches and scouts acting in their roles. Clubs do not stand still because they have no manager they have to be proactive.

Why do you believe it has to be Purslow?

I heard this is how Robbie Keane was signed whilst you were still under Benitez; Benitez gave the board a priority-order list of transfer targets and went on holiday, Robbie Keane was way down that list but the first man they managed to sign... I think in reality this way of dealing goes on at a number of clubs, especially clubs with a high turnover of managers.

Dalglish, Lee, the coaches and the scouts aren't the men picking the team. Did you see the club buying or selling players in the time between Houllier leaving and Rafa taking over? Just in case you mention them, deals to sell Heskey and sign Cisse had been completed well before the season had even ended.

Purslow's the man running the club and has the final say on everything, without his say so none of the transfers then or in the future can happen. I'm sure he carried out the deals on the back of plans put in place by Benitez and/or advise from scouts etc.

If Hodgson has been appointed as a manager then he should be the man handling everything from picking the side to signing the players. So far everything that has happened and everything he's said himself goes against that.

Really? What's taking up his time? Reading the papers? Him and the Club have said what's happening, all thats taking up his time is pre season training.

Well I wish he would tell us his plan because it isnt looking very promising at the moment.

If the club and him have said whats happening why is he having a meeting with him then? To ask him to play at CB this season? :p

Anfield press conference just finished.

Masch demands a move away, but RH stated that since he is contracted he will be allowed to leave on the clubs terms, if they decide to get rid.

Also that Torres has expressed that he cant wait to get back to training on Monday.

He has said he wants to sign a defender, With Sol going, Bartley out for 3 months, he has too.

Have the club said they are having a meeting? Or just what the papers 'claim'
