I knew he wasn't leaving from day 1, so won't have been me waiting for anybody to say anything. Arsenal made it crystal clear in their first statement.

I think my main feelings were that I don't care enough about Fabregas or Arsenal Football Club for this to be anything more than a tiny bit annoying

Edit - I'd never (in a rational mind) deny that Cesc wanted to go to Barca either, it's clear tbh, just that Arsenal should definitely not sell

So pray tell why you're getting your knickers in a twist that Barca are publically courting him?

Their players shouldn't be insulting Arsenal as a club. You don't expect it from professionals, as for them chasing Cesc, it's much less annoying. I watch nearly all Barca's games anyway, not exactly a disaster is it

You know damn well if I wanted to wind you up I can do a lot better, I'm having a discussion, are you taking this personal?

Feel free to RTM any of my posts where I am pointing out Arsenals faults.

;) Not my style, I'm not a pussy and if anybody annoys me enough, ignore is easier.

Edit - I think most people have got it way off about Arsenal fans, most don't actually care so much about Cesc leaving and joining Barca, no big deal, the way they're trying to make it happen is classless though, and a £33m top bid is also a bit of an insult. If it went off without a hitch nobody would care

I don't think that's ever been in question, they are classless just like Real Madrid, I don't remember the Arsenal fans moaning about RM doing it with Ronaldo. I do remember the more maturer MU fans saying fair play he's give us a good few years and he obviously wants to play for them so good luck to him.

Ha well when Bacary Sagna has for about the nineteenth time said that Montpellier only have Spahic on loan, and that Spahic has Arsenal DNA, and then about ten of his Arsenal team-mates have joined in the party, forcing an Arsenal shirt over Spahic's head, urging Spahic to buy-himself out of his contract.
Then, perhaps you can draw comparisons...

Until then you're just making something out of nothing with that Sagna story, and trivialising something that no sane person could condone. I think you can tell by the number of fans of other clubs that have registered their distaste for what Barca have been doing re Fabregas, that it's a pretty atrocious way of doing business, and I think many people felt the same last summer with Ronaldo and United.

Real and Barca have an attitude problem in the transfer market. Alleging that Arsenal are guilty of the same thing is, well, utter balls to be honest.

Edit your sweary.

Agreed but you must see how ironic it is that you all moan about publically speaking about other players and then one of your own does exactly the same but because it's a different situation it's ok?

The Spanish clubs don't have any class, everyone already knew that but it seems to have crept up on Arsenal.

I got the impression it was turning the other way, hence jumping in.

Don't look too much into it Gimp. Just friendly words is all. :)

I didn't hence my reasonable response :)

I could understand if we were properly having a slanging match but this little discussion is nothing in the SA dude :)

All I'm saying is people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
We don't live in the glass house though.

How does "WELL YOUR PLAYER DOES IT TOO" mean we can't criticise someone else? That's terrible logic. We don't really have any say in how players in our team act, and the idea that anything our own lot does is automatically sacrosanct is retarded, as you well know. Just because we had Bobby Pires in the team for so many years doesn't mean I have to suddenly condone diving, or accept that vicious tackles are a fair tactic since we used to play a bit rough.

And as said, one "he'd be very welcome here" is hardly equal to near-daily press commentary and the blatent attempts to use the publicity to force our hand.

All confirmed with Senderos, out for 6 months - so basically the season I guess.

Guess we'll confirm another centre back, or use Chris Baird there - and sign (two) midfielders.

my bad I thought it auto filtered all the things you weren't allowed to say.

Players and managers going public over interests at other clubs is part and parcel of a transfer, everyone does it I don't dispute that. When one reads the transfer centre on the Sky Sports website, 90% of the articles are some such quotes.

The fact is Barca did it in a completely repudiable manner, frequently belittling Arsenal and encouraging Fabregas to buy himself out of his contract under the recent ruling. That's a deplorable way of doing business and that's what drew the ire of the Arsenal fans, along with the fact the quotes kept coming without any increase in the risible offer.

Agreed buit taking that point of view begs this question, why does Wenger continue to moan about rough tactics from the likes of Bolton and Blackburn when he packed a team out of the likes of Adams, Keown and Veiriaiaia who used to kick 7 shades out of the opposition.

It's double standards by Arsenal yet again, do you ever hear any other manager moaning about playing rough?

I don't diasgree with that at all, what I'm saying is that Arsenal do it as much as anyone, Barca have taken the urine with this episode and have rightly been condemned for it, I was poiting out where an Arsenal player has come out and basically publically tapped up a player. Barca are just better at it than you.

Kenwyn Jones is in talks with Stoke then, strange one that, would have thought he would have gone to Liverpool or Tottenham.

I'm not sure why Jakeke can't see the difference between for instance even Ronaldo/Real situation and Fabregas.

Fabregas trained with most of the players currently at Barca, including the manager, from like the age of 6 to 16, before he left. He's spanish, he's from the area, he grew up as a kid at Barca, Guardiola is a mentor to him, Xavi is like a big brother, half the team is essentially his family, and that family gets asked if they want him home, what should they say, he was crap when he was there, they don't care either way?

The reason less Arsenal players have commented on the french defender, is because 98% of the squad has no clue who he is, the one guy who knows, has said he'd be great at Arsenal, that Arsenal should get him, that he'd fit in great at Arsenal and yes, he's made several different statements on it.

Its standard, all teams do it, the difference with Ronaldo/Real is that EVERYONE in world football knows both players, so the PRESS ASK EVERYONE ABOUT IT. The press/world football didn't really know who Koscielny is, so no one went around the Arsenal team asking for quotes all day long every day. Thats life, I don't know what the quote was, but Fergie was apparently drawn to comment that he'd like to get Ozil, is that truly terrible?

What about Redknapp, is there a player he hasn't mentioned wanting, in the world, football, rugby, baseball, he wants to sign the all. AS Gimp said, and as I've said repeatedly, most Arsenal fans only care this time because its one of our players, we do it, Wenger does it, our players do it, every teams players do it.

These days Utd tend to go for youngsters, when the Berbatov thing was going on there were quotes all over the place, when it was Raf/Fabio, no one commented, no one asked them, no one knew who they were.

If people stopped reading the Sun/DM/other crap, their reporters wouldn't constantly ask Barca/Real players questions to get quotes.

If I was at Barca now, winning stuff, but had spent a decade growing up with Arsenal players, wasn't happy with life in England, the area, the press, I'd want to move back to Arsenal, so I have no problem with Cesc wanting to go.

EDIT:_ Also fairly sure Real didn't up and ask if they'd take 80mil for Ronaldo, they made some offers, for a couple seasons, were rebuffed, and eventually Utd obviously gave them a price. I wouldn't expect Barca to just offer 60mil, they'd offer 30, 35, see how desparate Arsenal are for the cash, you don't offer 60mil, if you think they might sell for 40mil.

I think Arsenal could easily have gotten 45-50mil, if they'd actually given Barca a price. £35 mil wasn't their final offer, it was the start of negotiations, which Wenger acted like a petty child and refused to get into. We'll see how much he ends up going for next season I guess, after another year without silverware, or maybe, just maybe, an FA/worthless cup, do you think either will persuade Cesc to stay.

The only real possibility for getting very good money for Cesc, is if Real beat Barca this year and they feel they need a massive signing to get back in it.

We can't compete with Stoke in the transfer market :o

Sad story man. Is there actually any transfer gossip thought or are we just creating our own arguments about cesc going to barcelona now that the media have shut up about it.
