Well the League squad is 25 man :/
Its even worse, footie365 says its a 25 Europa squad, and they only named 23, and they could easily have named 2 more,
Squad: Given, Hart, Taylor; Richards, Boateng, Zabaleta, Kolo Toure, Lescott, Logan, Bridge, Kolarov; Wright-Phillips, Adam Johnson, Yaya Toure, Michael Johnson, Barry, Vieira, Kompany, de Jong; Adebayor, Robinho, Santa Cruz, Tevez.
Robinho? Zabaleta and Michael Johnson over Bellamy and Ireland, who would both count as homegrown so not an issue?
Though I have no clue if Michael Johnson is back from injury yet, and I assume that frankly Robinho, Zabaleta, SWP would probably be moving on for being, well, hated/crap(for the record I still think Robinho's been mostly great, only since a long term injury and zero form has he looked bad). Ireland and Bellamy are better than, well 10-12 of those players at least, madness to leave them out. No idea why Silva's been ommited unless he has an injury. So what he was in the world cup, he barely played, has had time since and has a while till they register for the later phases of the cup?
This is the other thing though, how many times do they register, don't you re-register for the later stages, but if you're in early qualifying rounds I'm not sure that you register for one knock out stage at a time then once for the group stage?
EDIT:- Does anyone know if this 23 man squad is for the play off game only, or the team for play off and group stages at least? Leaving them out for one game doesn't mean much, leaving them out for basically months/after xmas would be far more telling. Wiki's Europa page failed me
EDIT2:- This team is registered till the knockout stage when they can change 3 players, so Bellamy/Ireland will be pee'd/out the club.
Sky Sports seems to be hinting that Silva wasn't included because they couldn't fit in another non homegrown player, though I would have picked him ahead of some others. Considering Silva's now not able to play till basically post xmas in Europe, and they put Robinho in, I can't see him being too happy, even more so if Robinho is sold.
