LOL how does that work?
How doesnt it work? We have a lot of good/top players but there not a team yet which showed yesterday when we were all over the place....we have upgraded our fullbacks though from Bridge and Richards to Boateng and Kolarov so were one world class CB away from a good defence but there are none avaliable so we use the class Kompany and for once a good Toure.

I seem to remember Valencia doing quite well, winning it twice in the past 10 years.

Manchester City are still quite a bit behind the Chelsea's / Manchester United's :)

That's genuinely harsh on Johnson, Richards is unbelievably ****.
I can see where's he's coming from tbh. They both like to bomb forward leaving acres of room at the back and neither are what you would call World Class in defence so in that sense they're comparable. Having said that, apart from Richards having more strength Johnson's a far better player at the moment.

man city arent my team.

if they had better full backs and a world class CB then they would be serious contenders, until that they are going to keep falling apart at the back.

the la liga is a 2 horse race. for real madrid to come 2nd or close to coming first isnt exactly what i would call a surprise.

So then you admit that the source of their success in play comes by playing much worse teams?

Unlike the position for any team in the Premier League.

Kind of like the SPL tbh.

for the national england team.

Johnson is number 1 right back and Richards is number 2 right back.

So thats quite obvious, but if you want a true world class right back then its got to be brazilian, Maicon or Alves.

Johnson is a bloody million miles better then Richards. Richards is shocking, and people on here know I think Johnson is ****.

Richards second choice? Was he injured for the World Cup?

Yeah, this is what I was getting at.

They both bomb forward and leave huge gaps and are generally quite poor in defence. However, Johnson is good going forward, Richards isn't.

take the past 6 years - only 2 teams have won it and i dont see that changing ever again, with the way tv money is handed out in spain.

valencia and villareal usually battle it out for 3rd though and this is likely to change with valencia selling its 2 best players this season to fund its debt. so i dont see valencia getting anywhere near the top 2.

yeah the TV money situation in La Liga is pretty insane =/ although the teams ate lobbying to get it changed to a similar format to the EPL afaik. Only their own FA are strongly against it for some reason.

all decent full backs bomb forwards. ramos, maicon, alves, zanetti, cole, bosingwa, evra.

they all leave gaps, but other members of the team have to realise what is going on and hold back. its basic common sense.

"decent" They all get back and cover, and can all defend.

Maybe with the exception of Ramos.

thats why full backs have to be extremely fit, this what is holding back richards, with his muscle mass, it takes his body far too much energy to keep running all game. therefore he gets tired and lazes about to restore some energy. his stamina is his biggest problem.

For Liverpool Kuyt regularly covers Johnson but for England no one bothers and it always comes back to the defender being out of position rather than the midfielder not covering.

exactly, if you see your full back bombing forward, someone has to take one for the team and hold back and cover. its basic common sense, otherwise your going to be extremely exposed if the other team win the ball and counter.

a winger shouldn't have to cover for a defender, the defender should have the awareness and intelligence to know when to get forwards and when to get back. Evra very rarely gets caught out at United, he's an example of a full back who knows when to go forward and when to stay back. Glen Johnson is an example of a banana.

Richards is not **** its just these past years he has focused more on muscle and money than playing and so he hasnt progressed as what was expected and so thats why we have bought Boateng who was brilliant against Valencia and will probably play against Timisora.

No. Him not being good enough is his biggest problem.

he's not amazing but hes the 2nd best right back england have got, so you can only play with the cards you are dealt and make the most of it. if johnson gets injured england arent totally screwed, he is decent enough to do the job. he's not as bad as your making out.

sean wright philips on the other hand shouldnt be in the england team.
