but given how desperate we are and that the vdv price is right, then maybe it would be useful.

the man utd midfield is pretty woeful and underperfoming at the minute.

honestly, you're all in the fantasy premier league. how many have Malouda, Lampard, Arsh, Fab, etc.... the only UTD center mid worth having is scholes but this has to be his last year i would have thought.

would any of you choose to have carrick in your fantasy teams? fletcher? i had valencia but thats worked out terrible. nani is a random one. truth is in value our midfield pales in comparison to chelseas, to arsenals and possibly to liverpools too. its only clinging on to the last scraps of form by scholes that allows us to function as a team.

bale, VdV, Ledders, lennon...

tbh is that much worse than

Nani, Fletcher, Carrick, Valencia?

plus they have Modric to come back and jenas?

utd's 4 is pretty terrible. when i say that i mean inconsisten and not very attacking... and i noticed again at the weekend that Giggs corners dont beat the first man, even when he plays it short to nani, nani cant beat the first man. scholes is class yes but for how long?

VdV isn't good enough for Man Utd anyway imo, they could do better, should be looking at the likes of Sneijder not his much less talented fellow Dutchie

VDV at Ajax
141 appearances 60 goals

Sneijder at Ajax
174 appearances 56 goals

;)

Nickg you do know there's a reason Man Utd are much better than Spurs every single season? Those players of Utd's play much better, whether or not you want to admit it.

Fair enough, my opinion is that Sniejder is superior but we're all entitled to our own. I'm mostly going on the last few season's from both, football moves so quickly so you can only rate a player on their last few seasons, and VdV was poor at the WC (Holland's worst attacker) and didn't exactly have a good season or two with Madrid.

ya i just realised, i mean huddlestone. i get them confused as they are both often injured so you hardly see either but i noticed huddlestone jogging around in the europa cup the other day.

No you didn't. You meant Palacios, because that's their DM.

Comparing Huddlestone's injury record with King's is laughable. Huddlestone was an almost ever present last season, and likely will be this season too, I wish the same could be said for King.

Palacios isn't a DM, he's a combative box to box player, though he's sadly not the player he was for his first 6-12 months at the club.

Huddlestone is now preferred in the more defensive role, working as a deep lying playmaker he's fast becoming the lynch pin of Spurs play.

I'm not sure with VDV what our first 11 will be, depends if Redknapp drops Bale back to left back.

-----Crouch--Defoe------
Modric--Van Der Vaart--Lennon
--------Huddlestone------
Bale--King--Dawson--Corluka
---------Gomes----------

but seriously, going back to my point before it was derailed by trivia such as me mistakenly writing ledders for huddles,

is the Tottenham midfield now with added VdV better than man utds? (presuming that OH will never play again) and knowing that giggs and scholes are on their last legs.

First of all, I'd like to know what midfield you're thinking of first. I mean if you think Essien plays for us and Gomes plays right wing then that's a whole different argument.

well any of the 5 really:

Lennon, Modric, Huddlestone, VdV, Bale

vs

Nani, Scholes, Fletcher, Carrick, Valencia

i think thats a fair comparison.

then you have Chelsea:

Malouda, Lampard, Essien, Mikel, Kalou?

etc
