he's just decided he's had his fun messing around and now it's time to try and write his name among the legends of a club with a real tradition.

I reckon.

Wait, you think he's going to join Liverpewl Footboll Klub:confused:

If he was 3 years younger, yes.

But I suspect rather like Owen, his will, body and desire are spent.

He certainly doesn't lack desire, in fact he seems to be trying too hard, perhaps that's his problem and he just needs to relax and play again.

Whoever picks up J.Cole will arguably do the best bit of business this summer, hope it's us

For the record I think Owen had a pretty good first season for us and would have had a much bigger part to play had he not got injured (again)

Would love to see this next season

GK: VDS

RB: Rafael
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

CM: Fletcher
CM: Scholes
CM: J.Cole

RW: Valencia
CF: Rooney
LW: Nani

Subs: PIG, Evans, O'Shea, Carrick, Hargreaves, Giggs, Berbatov

And that's without mentioning Owen, Anderson, Gibson, Park, Macheda, Smalling, Hernandez, Brown, Fabio & Neville

That's a pretty strong squad IMO

for 105k a week - that is a deal Utd should avoid, Im sorry but no way is he worth that much. If only because if he were ever to get a new deal those wages would only go up - I suppose it could be written into the deal that x amount is the transfer fee and y is wages , which would make it a little easier to swallow)

I think he will get more games than Owen (and be more productive, if without the headlines) - I understand where JG is coming from, and I mostly agree

Undoubtedly its Chelsea letting him go because the same player as of 3 years ago or so isnt playing to the same quality (absolutely no question they could match wage demand if the club desired to - but I think its been obvious for several weeks they dont , and rightfully so)

With cautious optimism I want to state that its possible (maybe not probable) that the move could really re-vitilize the player and he could get back to his best, albeit a little older

Hopefully this still means there is some in the kitty for a well known striker (as JC if deal is complete is probably the left winger / creative central midfielder Utd need)

Im wondering if Fergie has considered moving Nani into the 2nd striker position - most of his goals seem to come from a central position, and he doesnt check back as often as he should (or effectively) as a winger..... (not sure he would be that much better but I would suggest its more likely JC would be getting more games on the left which kinda messes with Nani, and Valencia will get many more games on the right wing

Come on, the last time Fergie did that with a Portuguese winger it was a disaster. :p

Gotta agree about Joe Cole not really being worth over £100k a week for 4 years, especially if he gets a few long term injuries in that time, he's not getting younger!

No team that Joe Cole would want to join is going to pay him 100k a week so that story is a non starter, West Ham told him to name his price and he didn't want to go there

We wont pay him that, Spurs wont pay him that and that's probably why negotiations at Chelsea have fell through (if that figure is indeed true)

Got to say if Cole's past it then he's past it, the fact that Chelsea are showing him little interest says it all. I therefore expect him to be at Arsenal with a two year contract, after running away half way through a mediclal at a lesser club.

Well....Probably been mentioned but Man City are being linked with David Silva...I think he would do a really good job for us but he would have to go RW/RM as A.Johnson has to go LW/LM he just isnt as effective from the right....Jerome Boateng seems to be on his way to Man City also but we have to wait until 1st of june/july so he can be signed by another team....
With regard to Joe Cole i have never really seen anything in him so i for one hope he doesnt join Man City

Biz.Kid, just to clear something up, I saw the thread you set up about Man City (and that you've already closed it). This wouldn't have got a great response as generic threads about specific clubs got banned in here a few years back as we all got very tribal. So we stick to none club affiliated threads like this or single issue threads are also allowed (for instance if Man City ever became a proper team rather than a bunch of grubbing mercenary inbred gits then that can be put into a thread (although the mods will step in if it goes too far off topic and they feel it's becoming a generic single club thread)). Hope that clears up the lack of reaction you got.

Oh and also i think one of the reasons Cole might not want to play for City is he might not see the attraction of playing at the council house.

DanH84 well i didnt realise you werent allowed club specific threads as i saw a Arsenal related one so :/ and how can you not class us as a proper team? We have one or two in the team who are 'bunch of grubbing mercenary inbred gits' and dont deserve what they get but i think its unfair to say that they all are? and well is not owning your stadium such a big thing?
And Gilly when did i ever mention that? and Robboftw whats wrong with being a Man City fan? and for the record yeh i do think Johnson surpasses J Cole

No intrestong stoke new as of yet.

We will be selling the majority of flops this year and i d expect these lot to go.

Beattie (WBA interest)
Sonko
Kitson (Bristol City interest)
Tonge
Lawrence (Wolves interest)
Soares
Simmo
Sorenson (Bayern Munich interest)

Tuncay may also leave to sunderland. He has BAGS of talent but is clearly too much of an ego to work with our gaffer. He has walked off the pitch twice straight down the tunnel as has Kitson. As good as Pulis is we will never be able to get the high maintenance players in line with his ideas.

Not sure who we are going to sign strong rumouts of Emile Heskey. Despite being a donkey would fit in with how Pulis likes to set up his strikers and if hes coming in to replace sidebe im all for it :D

The best signing for us would be to KEEP Ryan Shawcross for another year. I know harry and Rafa were sniffing at him but that boy is going to be a rock for a bigger club than ours soon. Still only 22.

Not that anyone is interested in non top 4 news :D

what Arsenal thread? Also i can't blame City for being what they are, having us as their illustrious neighbours must have lead to it being quite a galling 34 years or so ;)
