haha english league too tough for these spanish girls. ronaldo coped with it, even thrived on it, it made him the player he is today.

Ronaldo is portugese;)

Don't start with that nonsense.

Why is it nonsense exactly??....hes not wrong in saying that Arsenal need more consistent players in order to win the Prem title....our lack of consistency especially in April has cost us the Prem title along with our injuries as well.

I don't think Arsenal would have been favourites to win the Premiership this season even with a full-strength roster. Their proximity to Chelsea and United this season has been more down to their underperformance this season rather than Arsenal's.

They'll be in with more than a shout next year if they invest wisely in about 3-4 players (mostly for their own half) this Summer however.

Pre-season all the pundits were worried about Arsenal's DMF, but Song stepped up, he's become a good player. They were worried about CBs too but Vermaelen and Gallas have had good seasons.

My personal opinion as to why we struggled this year was a lack of a tall, strong centre-forward to hold up the ball - we had Arshavin through the middle on his own in some of the games against the other top teams this year...

We don't have a keeper to speak of either. Our error-prone butter-fingered tools have cost us...

Chamakh looks likely to sign for us, but even if (and we all know Arsene is notoriously reluctant to splash cash) we also sign a quality keeper - Fiorentina's Frey is being touted and that'd be tidy, and another centre-half depending on whether Gallas stays or not (I've heard Nened Subotic recently) we won't be favourites for the title next season either. Chelsea's strength in depth is incredible, they scarcely need signings, and United will spend more this summer than we do.

Pires was awesome for us, to call him pretty average is a bit of an insult!

Pires average? Wtf? Wind-up?

Up there with Henry and Vieira without doubt.

He had three decent seasons at Highbury (first two where littered with injury according to wiki and last one he was a sub a lot of the time), but Im sorry you cant compare the length of time Henry or Viera where with you , completely different ball park imo - obviously with the latter two being a lot better

During that time he was performing to the same levels as those two. He was my favourite of the invincibles. One of the classiest and most intelligent players to ever play here

Don't you think it says it all that you're literally basing all your opinions from wiki!!

Pires not to the standard of Evra and Cantona!? Average!?

That is outrageous. Pires was a fantastic player for Arsenal. Indeed Wenger referred to him as 'the oil in Arsenal's engine' whilst he was there. You could see in his style of player what an influence he had on games.

This.

Sport.co.uk understands that Chelsea signed an agreement with Atletico Madrid in January which will see the Premier League club have first right of refusal on the signing of Argentine striker Sergio Aguero when the transfer window opens on July 1st.

Linky

I like this. Let's hope there's some truth to it. :D

Pires was better than Vieira and only second best to Henry due to longevity and the sheer amount of goals Henry scored, Pires could do things Henry could only dream of. Pires was also surprisingly strong and had a great first season and throughout he was just immense from his second season onwards. He didn't run his contract down, he left after being subbed in the CL final rather than taking off the woefully ineffective Hleb. All season long Wenger prefered Hleb to either Reyes or Pires and dropped Reyes for the final and took Pires off, both left because of that decision, it was the final nail in the coffin on their Arsenal career's, and both were so much better than Hleb it was embarassing.

Pires was one of the all time best players ever at Arsenal, in the league and one of the best left wingers the world has seen, creativity wise he's basically unmatched, if he had Gigg's/Ronaldo pace he'd probably have been regarded as one of the best players in the world.

INjuries did hold him back, but not much, he's been fantastic at Villareal in all but his first season where he picked up one of the seemingly common foot stuck in the turf ACL injuries, out for 4/5 of the season and was by far their best player in the final 1/5 of that season.

Arsenal need 3 or 4CB's considering Djourou is crap, Senderos is almost certainly good, Silvestre HAS to leave and Gallas is 80% likely to leave, basically leaving Vermaelen and Campbell. We need a world class CB, and a couple of back up types, with one preferably being much better than the quality of back up we have now.

We need a DM, or two, some real wingers, and to go back to 4-4-2.

The idea of buying Chamakh, when we play a 4-5-1, and have 5 strikers(RVP, Bendter, Theo, Eduardo, Vela) and Nasri, Arshavin, Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshire who all prefer to play as advanced central players, buying another striker is a joke.

EDIT:- The one and only time I wish Pires wasn't an Arsenal player, was the "numb foot" penalty incident, :p It was really god damned funny though.

I would also like to put it on record that I too would welcome being at United next season.

I am sure I have the backing of most football fans(non UTD ones anyway) when I say that we would all love to see you between the sticks next season!
