Still running my Cloud Key Gen 1, is it worth updating to Gen 2?

Not really. The Achilles heel of the Gen 1 was the fact that it would fail to write the MongoDB database update if the UCK crashed. With the newer controller software they either don’t use MongoDB or they use a version of MongoDB where that doesn’t happen anymore so the big USP of the Gen2 models (the battery backed soft shutdown) was no longer relevant. No point in spending a lot of money on something if you don’t need to.

Depending on how technically adept you are, you can run the Network Controller or whatever they call it these days in Oracle Cloud free tier. Then you can back up to local file system and use rsync to GDrive for cloud backups. It's what I did for a good number of months before buying my UDM SE and if you use the ARM images, they are super quick.

Just started getting the following error on two UDM Pro ports:

Dream Machine Pro #1 is experiencing transmission and reception error. This may indicate a problem with a port or cabling.

Might have occurred after a recent software update, both ports are on my IOT VLAN, other ports not on the same VLAN are fine.

Anyone else having port critical errors recently / after a software update?

Anyone here run dual WAN on a UDM/UDM SE? I know @RSR does, or maybe has done.

How did you have it configured? Anything to avoid with it?
Yes, I still use my FTTP / FTTC connections for failover.

It's pretty straightforward to set up, select your options and away you go.

We've had this at work recently and if you look in port manager on the switch and enable TX/RX errors you'll see the problem. In our case this was bad terminations and cables. It seems quite accurate as we'd already been experiencing PoE problems with a phone on the one of the ports it flagged up.

I am moving router from mikrotik to a usg, the answer to why? pretty graphs, one eco system.... i know i dont need it.

Question, will all my dhcp devices move address (nightmare), or does the device request the same address on switch over.

In terms of DHCP lease, if it's a new DHCP server it will more than likely get another IP. The best thing you can do once you have installed the USG is to go and power cycle/disconnect and reconnect all the devices.

Also a note about the USG it is EoL and it will struggle with faster fibre connections depending on the feature set used.

They'll get new IP addresses. It isn't so much that a client asks for the same address, it asks if it's current address is still valid which it won't be as the lease will have been given by the Mikrotik and the USG won't know about it

It shouldn't be too much of a problem though.

Dear Early Access Community,

After careful consideration and evaluation, we write to inform you that we have decided to discontinue the Early Access hardware program. Early Access software releases will continue to be released for all products. We believe that this change will ultimately result in a higher-quality experience for all our customers.

Our Early Access program has always been a way for our most passionate community members to interact with our product managers and developers and help shape the future of Ubiquiti. Your feedback has led to countless hardware and software improvements, and we thank every one of you for your feedback. This is why the Early Access software program will continue to remain a staple of Ubiquiti.

Since external feedback for upcoming products is still an important part of our development process, we will be reevaluating our approach to pre-release hardware evaluations in order to better align with our quality goals and create improved collaboration between UI and our community. This program will be announced at a later date.

We apologize for any confusion in the past few days about the Early Access hardware program and EA store. Our primary objective is to provide you with the best possible products, and we believe this change will benefit both Ubiquiti and our user community. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Sincerely,

UI-Team

No bad thing tbh, abused imho.

Re Unifi gateway products, with the recent updates pretty decent now or still lacking against pfsense/untangle/sophos xg?

I'm using a cloud key gen2 so looking at options.
