*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

I've got a USG which seems to of failed early today.

No lights/internet connection except a blinking green light next to the console port.

A few videos show a psu problem but I have a green light on the brick .. I've changed the plug to the brick but no fix.

If this is a PSU issue does anyone have a link to a replacement please?

Common issue with the default PSU. Happened to me.

Read the voltage and amperage on the PSU and find a replacement on Amazon.

I’m after a camera to cover our rear fence/garage door. I’m thinking it’s probably going to have to be a bullet, on the back of our house pointed at the fence, this would cover what I need, but struggling to decide whether the g5s are worth it, anyone have one? I can’t justify the price of one of ubiquiti’s 4K cameras unfortunately, adding it to an existing protect setup.

I've got the G4 dome covering the front of the house, it's decent but quite a bit of IR glow (or whatever you call it) at night time.

I was just looking further at this and may have an answer as well, apparently the g5 has no way to fit an IR extender, which I'd definitely need as the back fence is almost entirely unlit. That or get a separate ir flooder, but it seems excessive.

I could, at a push, install a dome on our rear soffit, but whilst that might be ok covering our garage door I don't know how effective it would be for the rear fence; also everything I've read about cameras seems to suggest ~10 feet is the ideal height for them, but the soffits are obviously about 10 metres up. Still the picture from yours looks reasonable.

I’ve got G5 domes and bullets, what do you want to know?
Nice, I'd be interested to see the viewing angles of both, and the performance at night. I want to point them at my rear fence and cover the side garage door, there is no light at night so IR is very important, and I'd prefer not to have to buy a separate IR flooder, although at a push this is definitely possible. The dome would only really be installable at ~10 metres on a soffit, whereas the bullet obviously has a few more options and I've actually got a perfect spot for it with an existing cable run (its an aerial but I can utilise the same route).

I was just about to ask if you could use non-unifi cams with Protect using the open camera protocol RTSP, but I googled it and found this.

Has anyone used it, or something similar?

Yeah I've come across this but I'm reluctant to start tinkering with a video system, I literally want to just plug in a camera and forget about it. Its a shame that (4k) unifi cameras are so expensive.

I’ll post some day/night pictures later with some approximate measurements.

My recommendation would be the bullet camera mounted on the wall just out of arms reach from the floor. If the distances is short the the wider angle dome camera may be better but I’d use the wall mount for it. When mounted on an upper floor soffit, it’s just going to be looking down on the tops of peoples heads.

Yeah, would be very interesting to see if you could hook up just a couple of Sub £200 4k Hikvision cams and be able to access them from the UniFi app.

If you want to use Hik, just buy a compatible NVR. The novelty of checking camera soon wears off after a couple of days.

I only look at them now if I need to (mainly doorbell) or very periodically to check they actually work still.

Has anyone had "experiencing transmission and reception errors. This may indicate a problem with a port or cabling." errors since 3.0.20?

Just upgraded from a security gateway pro to a dream machine pro and got this on the cable run connecting my desktop to my the DMP.

Never had that error before getting the dream machine pro, so not sure if the new software is more sensitive to catching errors that weren't seen before, or if it's something I can ignore?

I used a cable tester when running the line and all 8 cores are sound.

I disagree, I have all my cams open on another monitor the majority of the time my PC is on streaming live from Blue Iris. It feels very odd now if I can't pull them up in an instant.

I may be reading something into this that isn’t there and I mean no malice by saying this, but that’s not normal.

Looks at errors on port insights.
