*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

So I tested my U6-Enterprise on the ceiling and definitely getting better speeds.
It’s now powered by 2.5Gbe Zyxel Poe+ injector.
I tested speeds around my flat and the worst I’m getting is ~270mbps on 5Ghz band by the main door (where I usually don’t spend much time obviously) so will be only using this single ap instead of 2 like I did before (was using 2 AC Lite to cover my flat).
Here are speed tests from my iPhone 13 Pro Max while sitting on the sofa and from my Quest 3 in my usual play area.

I don't suppose anyone has heard when the UXG-Lite releases in the UK? I noticed it's gone live and sold out in a number of places so far.
I've always found the prices from the actual Ubiquiti store to be fair, plus you're dealing directly with them in case of any issues.

To be honest I am not impressed by the new UXG-Lite, 1x WAN and 1x LAN ports - all 1 Gb ports as well - with IDS engaged it will top out around at around 700-800Mbs throughput. My old Unifi USG had 3 x 1Gb WAN/LAN ports but would top out at 90Mb/s with IDS turned on! With the increases in FTTP speeds - you need to be looking for 2.5Gbs ports to cover the expansion in speed in the next 3-5 years. I already have 3 fibre individual fibre connections to my property - all the providers are already offering 1Gbs services already, 2.5Gbs is now essential - instead look at a Mikrotik 5009 with 2.5Gbs WAN and 10Gb SFTP+ ports.

What makes you say that?

I'm not disagreeing that it should have come with 2.5 GbE ports, but, it is a 'lite' unit, and the price isn't terrible.

Unifi's own advertising page -

https://uk.store.ui.com/uk/en/pro/category/all-cloud-keys-gateways/products/uxg-lite

Unifi quote upto 'Up to 10x routing performance increase over USG (tested with IPS/IDS, QoS, and Smart Queues)'

I'll stick to my UDM base, it tops out at about 800Mb/s with IDS on, DNS shield, Security settings on max, this is on a PPPOE connection to my ONT.

Smart Queues seems to have a bigger impact than IDS/IPS IME so I remain sceptical about your claim.

Personally, IDS/IPS is not required for home usage, it's all blocked anyway, and for average home users it can cause unwanted issues.

I only require one wan port and Full fibre isn't due to be installed here between now and the end of 2026 so the BT checkers state.

I'm intrigued though, what do you require 3x 1Gb fibre installs to a property for?

I believe there is another device going through FCC approval, perhaps another mid range device?

I don't have three FTTP installs but my we have two competing fibre lines with moleshots outside my front garden gate for Grain Connect and MS3 networks that have been laid in the past 3 months, meaning the path outside my house had to be dug up twice. The path now looks like a Tetris screen with big blocks of different shaded tarmac running along it. Then I have my KCOM ISP FTTP connection that runs from the telegraph pole outside the house to the front my property. I know most people have 1 FTTP connection to their house, but in Hull we have 3 options to pick from!

Yet in between Southampton and Fareham, they can't get any of them as "not priority.

The competing companies don't want to use the KCOM infrastructure that was in place and is near 100% reliable, they took the huge cash incentives from the Boris Johnson's big gigabit rollout scheme and have constructed huge fibre networks.

Grain Connect latest incentive to join them is a 900Mb/s symetrical FTTP line, free install, router and wifi extender, unlimited bandwidth, 18 month contract - 1st 3 months - £1, followed by 15 months x £29.99 with no in contract price rises.

That would be nice to have the option! There are streets in the main city that are similar to what you say and that is just patch works everywhere as Cityfibre and BT are doing their own thing.

We are now having issues with the contractors erecting new telegraph poles, there have been demonstrations, householders obstructing the contractors from working and now the new telegraph poles that have been installed have been cut down!

Hull residents complained that KCOM was running a monopoly and that there was no choice, and now they are complaining that competing fibre is being installed! You cannot make it up.

More joys of that madman Borris! It's bad enough having Cruella as the local MP.

Interesting re KCOM, I'll have to google that and learn something new today :)

My parents are on Toob and I'm considering the UXG-Lite for them once a bit more real world reviews come in and the UK model gets release. That won't be anytime soon as they're really slow getting PSUs sorted for the UK etc. Could order a EU and use a 3rd party PSU etc. UXG-Lite and then remove adopt into my CK Gen2+ or I just leave them on pfsense.

I just clicked into my IOS app and went through the help button, hopefully the link should help.
Thanks. Found that. But there’s nowhere in the app to do this part.

Scan the QR Code on the back of your AP

I’ve done stand alone several times. I’ve got 10+ controllers within my app that I manage. Just having a brain fade right now or the functionality has been removed.
