*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

Thanks. Found that. But there’s nowhere in the app to do this part.

Scan the QR Code on the back of your AP

I’ve done stand alone several times. I’ve got 10+ controllers within my app that I manage. Just having a brain fade right now or the functionality has been removed.

Open iOS app
Click on + sign top right
Click need help
Click Access Point tab under Device Setup here
Then click manual set at the bottom

Next screen - click continue anyway blue box at the bottom

Then you can scan QR code

I messaged Chris from Crosstalk during the premiere of the video and asked if the UXG-Lite with IDS and Smart Queues turned on, would exceed 700Mb/s transfer speed and he said he didn't think it would. This model looks to be very much an entry level device, but there is another device coming out shortly from Ubiquiti, hopefully this will have better CPU and 2.5Gb LAN/WAN ports.

Anyone using SFP / SFP+ to RJ45 Adapter UACC-CM-RJ45-MG, noticed they're got 2.5/5Gbps listed on the spec, which suddenly got me a bit more interest as I'd wire in my NAS at 2.5GBbps negotiation.

Did hear rumours of another device. UXG-Lite wouldn't be for me, it'd be for a family member on their 900/900 connection.

Evening all, I've just bought 2 Unifi 6 pro access points for my home; 1 for upstairs and 1 for down.

Both are set up with the same SSID and password but I have 2 devices (Nest camera and doorbell) that have poor signal - showing as connected to the downstairs point even though the upstairs one is probably closer to them.
Is there a way to get them onto the closer AP or should they switch automatically?

Did he test it or just an educated guess?

Starting to wish I jumped on the U6 Pro when it was £120 last week. Ah well.

If using Unifi controller,

log into to the controller from your browser,

click on the client devices icon from on the left hand side.

Click on your camera or doorbell listed in the client devices

The client overview pane should open on the righ-hand side, click on the settings cog icon on the top right of the newly opened pane.

You should see Lock to access point option and a tick box in the upper part of the pane.

Tick the box and then select your access point and away you go.

You yourself said yesterday that it wouldn't?

I'm not saying it will, but I think it's prudent to have actual test data prior to making assumptions about its performance.

This seems to be a guess as he was going to do further tests and hopefully another video or two, but Chris seems a fair guy and isn't just a Unifi fan boy. He did purchase the UXG-Lite himself using his own money.

For a 900mb/900mb connection, I don't think the UXG-Lite will cut the mustard, if you are running 500mb/500mb then the Lite should be able to cope.

I based it on my knowledge and experience of the old USG (which I still have - but hasn't been used in a couple of years), with IDS and Smart Queues turned on it would max out at 70-90Mb/s download speed. Unifi's own spec page for the new UXG-Lite states it will run at 'upto 10x the performance of the USG'.

I really don't know who is going to buy the UXG-Lite, because you are going to have to purchase a cloud-key, or host the controller on the cloud, then add in a switch and an access point to get a basic home system.
It looks a nice bit of kit, but I am interested to see the other gateway that Unifi are going to release. Hopefully this will have 2.5Gb/s or an SFP+ cage.

Chris covered that use case in his video quite well, it's for MSPs/system integrators or people who already have UniFi kit and wanting to upgrade their USG 3.

UniFi is aimed at businesses, and most businesses do not have symmetrical 1 Gbps bandwidth.

I'm quite interested in the UXG lite as I originally wanted to go USG but opted for the ERX due to rumours of the USG going EOL.

I've got a unifi switch and access points but no gateway as such. I currently run the controller on my PC when needed.
I'll await full detailed reviews prior to purchase and look to see what other device may be coming as rumoured.

Thanks for that, I'm not using the controller (yet) - just getting into the world of Ubiquiti and wiring my home

So i'm using the UniFi app, I've done similar though where I blocked the doorbell and camera from the weaker AP to force it onto the stronger one

Thanks

Anyone else experiencing U6 LR burning itself out. Have had 2 units now that’s happened to me after 6months.

Initially all fine then wifi starts to have issues with lag around 3months in then slowly slowly it gets super slow then eventually the AP just go into a reboot loop as soon as any kind of traffic hit it. Even browsing on mobile will cause it to reboot.

Tried various firmwares and not resolved this.

The second one had manufactured date of Jan 2023
